What We Do in the Shadows Gets a Second Season

FX announced Tuesday that the mockumentary will get a season two.

The Announcement

From Nick Grad, Co-President of original programming at FX and it’s subsidiaries:

“Jemaine Clement, Taika Waititi and Paul Simms have more than delivered on the high expectations of Shadows fans by adapting the cult classic for television and building a passionate base of new and returning fans,” said Grad. “We also want to thank the rest of the creative team, including Scott Rudin, Garrett Basch and Eli Bush, and the incredible cast and crew for delivering such a fun and original series, and we look forward to working with them all on season two.”

What We Do in the Shadows has garnered high ratings from nearly every demographic. No doubt, keeping the same atmosphere and humor by keeping the original movie’s writers and directors(I think you may have heard of them: Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement) has helped keep this show as funny as the hit film. Just as importantly, the cast of the TV show have stepped into some mighty big shoes and have filled them without exception.

The Premise

The show follows a trio of traditional vampires:

Nadja(Natasia Demetriou)

Laszlo(Matt Berry)

Nandor(Kayvan Novak)

and emotional vampire Colin Robinson(Mark Proksch)

Viewers follow them on their (mostly) nightly doings in Staten Island. The depressed familiar, Guillermo(Harvey Guillen) rounds out the cast as a vampire wannabe who has been in Nandor’s thrall for ten years. He is waiting to be turned so he can be like Interview with the Vampire’s Armand(Antonio Banderas)-his vampire idol.

Congratulations to the cast and crew of the series; these are some vampires you should invite without hesitation into your home!

What We Do in the Shadows(rated MA) airs Wednesday nights at 10 on FX.
