- Topiary!
- Spoilers ahead!
Over The Topiary
Vampire Laszlo(Matt Berry) is showing off his topiary skills, when he heads to his hidden pride and joy; a mini topiary garden celebrating his favorite, uh, lady parts. From his favorite ladies. They range from his good ladywife to Jack the Ripper Victim Polly Nichols.
While showing off his mother’s, however, he notices a stench. Werewolves have been in his garden, making his mother’s, uh, plant, “wizened” by urinating on it.
Risking the truce that is tens upon tens years old, Laszlo sets a trap, catching the culprit. The other vampires are aghast that Laszlo would risk the truce, and bandage up the poor fellow, who promises that he will return with his pack. He also swears that he is healing up at a preternatural speed. Surree.
Colin Robinson Finds a Match
At work, energy vampire Colin(Mark Proksch) is draining his human coworkers, when he notices a new employee. He gleefully goes over to her only to find he can get nothing from her. He realizes rather quickly that Evie(Vanessa Bayer) is an emotional vampire. They begin vying for everyone’s attention, until they decide to team up. Their dinner date is hilarious.
Vampire vs Werewolf
The vampires clash in the yard with the werewolf pack, but decency prevails as the lead werewolf(Arj Barker) and Nandor(Kayvan Novak) set a date for a duel-each to choose a champion.
In one month’s time, they meet upon the top of an abandoned Circuit City, the werewolves claiming novice werewolf Toby(Justin Bigelli) as their fighter. He uses teeth an claws as weapons, and Nandor chooses…a squeaky toy, throwing it over the side of the building.
Breaking Up
Colin realizes his dating Evie isn’t working and breaks up with her, which is to her benefit, because she can use it to make others pity her-which feeds her quite well.
Thoughts on episode 3
IF YOU AREN’T WATCHING THIS SHOW. WHY NOT!?
The snarky banter between vampire Nadja(Natasia Demetriou) and the female werewolf(Hannan Younis) is incredible. I don’t know if it was scripted or ad libbed, but it is brilliant.
Laszlo’s bushes- that’s all I can say.
Flight of the Conchords alum Arj Barker’s guest star is perfection, of course.
The explanation of werewolves and how they aren’t like Twilight werewolves by the werewolves…
Arj yelling “My sciatica” was one of many laugh out loud moments on this show.
The search for the squeaky toy…
