Universal Pictures has released a new trailer for Furious 7 – the seventh instalment in the Fast & Furious franchise – is now online.
The new full-length trailer follows a shorter teaser for Furious 7 which premiered during the Super Bowl on Sunday (February 1), where 30-second advertising spots were sold by US broadcaster NBC for an average $4.5 million each.
Furious 7 is set to take place after Fast & Furious 6. After defeating Owen Shaw and his crew, Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel), Brian O’Conner (Paul Walker) and the rest of the crew are able to return to the United States and live the normal life again as they had wanted, but Owen’s older brother, Ian Shaw (Jason Statham), is after Dominic, seeking revenge for the death of his brother, putting the entire crew in danger once more. After learning of Han’s death, the crew sets out to find the man who killed one of their own, before he finds them first.
Furious 7 will feature the last film appearance from the late Paul Walker, who died in a car accident midway through filming. Shooting was subsequently delayed to allow for script rewrites and the actor’s brothers Caleb and Cody Walker were used as stand-ins to complete his final scenes.
Fast & Furious franchise regulars Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster and Ludacris all return, while Jason Statham plays the film’s main villain after making a brief appearance in 2013’s Fast & Furious 6. Meanwhile, Iggy Azalea has filmed a cameo for Furious 7 and the rapper recently admitted that the experience gave her a new-found appreciation for actors.
Saw director James Wan called the shots from a script by regular Fast & Furious franchise writer Chris Morgan. Furious 7 is set for release on April 3 this year (2015).
