Walking Dead Spin Off Confirmed

AMC, the network behind The Walking Dead have confirmed that a companion series is in the works. A pilot has been ordered from executive producers Gale Anne Hurd and David Alpert and production looks set to begin later this year.

From what AMC president Charlie Collier had to say it seems that this companion show will not have as narrow a focus as The Walking Dead itself, but will give an idea of what has been happening all over the world since the dead started walking.

Almost from the beginning of ‘The Walking Dead’ on AMC, fans have been curious about what is going on in the zombie apocalypse in other parts of the world. In fact, beyond requests for zombie cameos, it’s the question I get asked the most,” Collier said. “Obviously, we all take our stewardship of the original franchise incredibly seriously and we, along with Robert, Gale, David and now Dave, are all proceeding with extreme care in order to ensure that we are offering fans something truly compelling, engaging and distinct. We’re thrilled to be taking this next step with these remarkable partners.

Not much more has been announced other than the involvement of Dave Erickson (Sons of Anarchy, The Walking Dead) in the new spinoff.

The Walking Dead returns on AMC on Sunday, October 12th at 9:00 p.m. CST

Hey, I'm Clare, aka Ciara or C. My current fandoms are RWBY and The Last Kingdom along with a bunch of other stuff I tend to let build up and then binge! I'm a keen, albeit amateur, cosplayer and love attending cons in various cosplays. I'm also the resident comic book girl around these parts, especially small press comics, so if you've got an indie book you want reviewed, I'm your gal! When I'm not doing the fangirl thing I am a keen long-distance hiker, having completed Te Araroa in New Zealand and The Pacific Crest Trail on the West Coast of the US.
