Walker : Rule Number 17 Round Table Review

A new episode of Walker, called “Rule Number 17”, has arrived and this time it’s all about a high stakes poker game. Another roller coaster ride. Joining me (Rike) on this round table review is Kassi. Let’s do this!

Walker: Rule Number 17 Synopsis

Walker (Jared Padalecki) and Captain James (Coby Bell) investigate a high stakes poker game where one of the players may have information on Emily’s (Genevieve Padalecki) killer, but things takes a turn when Geri (Odette Annable) shows up.

Your opinion about this episode in general?

R: This episode got me right from the very beginning! As Kassi already said, the scene with Cordell and Emily kind of broke my heart. I wasn’t prepared at all. Next time I’ll have my tissues ready, no matter what. Anyways, I really enjoyed this whole intense investigation thing and on the other hand some emotional scenes with my favorite Walker family. There was a bit of everything.

K: This episode was AMAZING! The scene where Cordell got to see Emily’s dead body really broke my heart. I honestly didn’t expect to start crying as soon as the episode started but that’s exactly what happened here. I think the toast Cordell gave summarized perfectly what this show has always been about – family.

Walker and Captain James working together. Great duo?

K: YES! We have heard them say in earlier episodes, that those two used to be partners, but to actually get to see them working together was amazing. I loved how they kept talking about their former partnership rules and how easy it was for them to fall back into their rhythm. I feel like especially in this episode we got to see a whole new side of Captain James that we never got to see before. You could see how much Walker’s opinion of him mattered to him.

R:I have to admit, I still prefer Cordell and Micki (Lindsey Morgan) as a duo though, but Captain James is a great partner as well. At least when it comes to being focused and following the rules. They did spend a lot of time together back in the days. One could see that right away with them mentioning their partnership rules and stuff like that. Seemed like nothing changed at all. In my opinion  there’s still a better chemistry between Cordell and Micki. They’re just hilarious together. In a really good way.

Stella (Violet Brinson) still didn’t tell the truth about Trevor (Gavin Casalegno). Do you think there will be consequences?

R: We all saw what happened with Liam (Keegan Allen) and Captain James not telling the truth immediately. For now it didn’t turn out to be super bad, but I do have a feeling that it’s going to be different with Stella’s not so little secret. I do understand that it’s hard telling your father the truth about your boyfriend and his father, but she really needs to have the heart to do it fast. Time is ticking and as Kassi already said, these people are dangerous and shouldn’t be taken lightly. Go Stella!

K: Honestly I’m pretty sure that there will be consequences – and not even just small ones. I think that they are all still in danger, since I’m pretty sure that they haven’t found the real killer yet. There was a reason why Liam’s car got blown up and I don’t think Cali (Katrina Begin) could have done all of that alone. I think Stella doesn’t even realize how much danger she is in – especially with people now knowing that Cordell is her father.

Micki taking care of Stella and August (Kale Culley). Do you think this has something to do with her trying to deal with the past and being better than her own mother?

K: In a way yes. But I also think that this specific moment had more to do with the fact that Cordell was there for her when she needed it the most. I think in her own way, she thought taking care of his children would help him the most.

R:This might be a part of it, but it’s definitely not everything. Of course she’s still trying to cope with her situation right now and probably thinking about her mother and her past in general most of the time. However, one can see that Micki cares about Walker. They got each other’s back and she knows that Stella and August do need her now. This little trip might have been a good diversion for everyone involved.

Do you believe that Cali was the one who killed Emily or is there more to it?

R:There’s definitely more to it. This can’t be over now, even though I would love to see the Walker family finding their inner peace now. It has been a really rough time for everyone and I wish they would be able to breath and just enjoy life. I still don’t fully trust Geri. She was always suspicious in my opinion and this didn’t change until now. But with this show you never know what’s going to happen. James is also acting a bit suspicious in some situations. So, let’s wait and see. I mean, there’s nothing else we can do, right?

K: Personally, I do not think that Cali was the one who did it. Not once did she admit to killing Emily. She only said that Emily happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. What I did find suspicious is, that Geri killed her before she could be further questioned. I’m still not convinced that Geri had nothing to do with Emily’s murder, but that’s probably just me.

Liam for Governor? A big yes, or should he quit this idea?

K: I do think that if he has a lot of new and great ideas then he should go for it. I just think that it’s probably not a good idea to candidate when you fear that someone out there is trying to kill you and your family, but that’s just my opinion.

R: Oh damn, I would really love to see that. I can already imagine the rest of the Walker family cheering for Liam when he’s holding a speech. Sorry, my imagination is running wild now. But this would be really interesting to see. I want to know what he would have planned for this city and if his behaviour would change and stuff like that. Definitely a good storyline. Sadly with everything going on right now it’s kind of a no-go. He shouldn’t risk too much with these dangerous people still being somewhere out there. What about Season 2?

Geri and Walker? Do you think she’s the right one for Walker and that he can be truly happy again?

R: As I already mentioned before, Geri is still suspicious in my opinion. That’s why I truly don’t like the two of them being together. Don’t get me wrong, I want Cordell to be truly happy again. Really. He deserves nothing less than the best. But I do think that’s not going to happen if he stays with Geri.

K: Personally, I think they are better off as friends. Both of them had a really close relationship with Emily, which would make this dynamic pretty weird. I honestly don’t even think that they see each other in a romantic kind of way. After Geri killed Cali emotions were running high and I think that this was their own way of coping with the fact that the presumed killer of Emily is finally dead.
