Walker : Freedom Round Table Review

A new episode of Walker, called “Freedom”, has arrived. Hoyt (Matt Barr) is coming home from prison. Are you guys ready for another roller coaster ride? Joining me (Rike) on this round table review is Kassi. Let’s do this!

Walker: Freedom Synopsis

Walker (Jared Padalecki) and Geri (Odette Annable) are both unsure of their feelings for each other and things get very complicated when Hoyt comes home from prison, but the welcome home party is interrupted when Micki (Lindsey Morgan) and Walker get word that Clint West (Austin Nichols) is on the run.

Your opinion about this episode in general?

K: Overall I thought it was a good episode. I really liked the fact that we got to see Twyla (Karissa Lee Staples) again. I think that this meeting might have been something Cordell himself needed too in order to move on. Another thing I loved was that with Hoyt’s homecoming, we finally got to find out more about his character. My heart really broke for him when he proposed to Geri but instead of getting a yes as an answer, he got to hear about her kiss with Cordell.

R: It wasn’t one of my favorite episodes to be honest, but it wasn’t bad either. Still a good one in general, but there was something missing for me. The one scene which I still do remember is the proposal one. This whole thing with Geri and Walker was actually well received by Hoyt in general. I was waiting for him to freak out a bit more. At least that’s what I expected. But this show is full of surprises after all.

Micki told Trey (Jeff Pierre) that he should rely on her for a chance. With everything that has happened so far do you think he will actually do that or do you think he will still try to fight his battles alone?

R: I do think he’ll still try to fight this battle alone for some time. Like Kassi already said, it does take some time to really open up to someone. Maybe one day he’ll truly rely on Micki. Hopefully. Things like that doesn’t happen overnight. Patience is the key.

K: I think he will certainly try but I also think that there might still be some things he isn’t talking about. Really opening up to someone takes time, especially when you’re used to dealing with things on your own. What I really love about their relationship though is their willingness to work on themselves in terms of being honest with each other.

What do you think Geri meant when she said she’s still sorting out her feelings? Do you think she was hinting at the fact that she might have feelings for Cordell?

K: Yes I think so. When Geri told Micki that her relationship with Hoyt “isn’t exactly the stuff of fairy tales”, we saw her eyes going up to where Cordell was sitting – so I think in her mind being with Cordell would be exactly like in fairy tales. So who knows, maybe those thoughts were always at the back of her mind and she just never dared to hope.

R: Definitely! There’s no possibility that she meant it in a different way. Must be really hard for her now that she actually has feelings for Walker as well. Which feelings are going to be stronger? Who’s the better man for her? We will probably find out sooner or later.

At the end of the episode it was revealed that Clint West was the one who drove by Cordell and Micki. What do you think his endgame is?

R: I am actually really terrified right now. I don’t even wanna know what he’s up to. It’s going to end bad that’s for sure. A hell lot of drama and I don’t like that. Stay away from the Walker family. Don’t hurt them. I doubt that he’ll hurt Stella (Violet Brinson) because of Trevor (Gavin Casalegno), but what about August (Kale Culley) or Liam (Keegan Allen) or Bonham (Mitch Pileggi)? Or like anyone who’s close to Walker because this way he’ll suffer a lot. I just want them to be okay, but that’s probably not possible any time soon. Damn!

K: I would be surprised if his endgame wasn’t revenge. We heard him say multiple times that Cordell was the one responsible for his wife’s death, so I think he wants to make him pay for that. I’m not sure how yet but maybe Clint will go after Stella, because nothing would hurt someone more than to find out that a family member was killed because of you.

Your final score:

K: 7.5 / 10

R: I’ll go with a 7.5 as well.
