V-Wars – ‘Blood Brothers’ Review

Last Sunday, February 28th, we had a watch and tweet party to comment V-Wars 1×02, ‘Blood Brothers’. If you don’t know what party I’m talking about, check my previous review and the article where I explain the party details! You won’t want to miss it.

SPOILER ALERT. Read at your own risk.

V-Wars – ‘Blood Brothers’ Synopsis

Michael (Adrian Holmes) continues to prowl for victims while Luther (Ian Somerhalder) struggles with a traumatic loss and painful accusations. Also, Kaylee (Jacky Lai) makes a connection.

Overview

A lot of drama and new things happened here, starting with Luther being held at the police station, charged with murder. His kid, Des, is being held by the government while they decide their next move. They finally decide to allow Luther stay with his kid in a special place set up for them.

Aside from this family drama, we also have Michael Fayne running away and trying to figure out what’s happening to him. In addition to this, we have Kaylee (Jacky Lai) finding more proofs and footage of the vampire incidents. She keeps gathering this information and publishing everything, letting us know she only cares about exposing the truth.

We’re also introduced new characters: a group of riders who make their living selling drugs. Their lider looks nuts, and is portrayed as a very dangerous guy. They don’t have any connections with Luther or Michael at first sight, but, uh-oh, one of them is also infected.

Another new character is Calix Niklos (Peter Outerbridge). A man who works for the government and is in charge of Luther’s investigation. At first he seems nice and willing to help, but we soon discover he’s planning something. And it doesn’t look like a nice plan.

V-Wars – ‘Blood Brothers’ Review

With the drama that already started in last episode, the beginning of this episode was very exciting. We’re presented new problems and sub-plots, what helps to build up the bigger story. I was confused when I first saw the new characters, specially the bikers, but they managed to interwine their story with the main one very well.

The set keeps being very accurate and well made. The lighting and the way they focus every scenario is great and helps to actually dive in the story. We’ve seen drama already, but I feel this has just begun.

The cast, including the new characters, kept the amazing job. Gotta make a special mention to Ian’s performance in the interrogation scene. It truly touched me and almost made me cry. Adrian Holmes also nailed his performance as a vampire, I love the way he can be both dangerous and scared/defenceless.

I can’t wait to see what new dramas and developments we’ll get in the next episodes!!
