Tokyo 24 Ku “Sepia Graffiti” Review

Tokyo 24 Ku “Sepia Graffiti” is the second episode of the Tokyo 24-Ku anime. This episode focuses mainly on setting up answers that sprung up in episode 1 and showing how RGB and their friends came to be in the situation they’re in.

Review

I gotta say. I’m surprised by how direct and obvious this episode was. The show practically screams from the rooftops who the big bad is and the only mystery left is how the school fire started. Not why though, as it’s shown that it was hotly in debate for being demolished before RGB graffitied it and made it a central hub for everyone in the 24th ward.

Kou’s father was leader of the debate. No questions there who arranged to have the fire started. However, the ending scene leaves a big question. The lady who works for Kou’s father as head of development (I think.) Is controlling the weird machine thing that I assume gave them all powers. Is it all a plan? Does his father know she’s doing it? What exactly is she doing? Either way I’d like to know.

The episode itself was definitely weaker than last weeks. It flip flopped between past and present. Showing everyone’s personality pre-tragedy. But it kinda flip flops too much. Nearing the end I was a little confused as to what timeline I was following until someone said something to make it obvious.

Showing everyone’s past selves was a great idea for characterisation but it was pretty sloppily handled.
