Tokyo 24 Ku “Rosy Cheeks In The Morning” Review
Tokyo 24 Ku “Rosy Cheeks In The Morning” is the third episode of the Tokyo 24-Ku anime. Following the build up of the Gourmet Festival in episode 2. An emotional RGB prepare for the celebrations. Whilst Kaba has a big decision to make.
Slow but steady beginnings
I have to be honest. As much as I love this show and think it has promise, the first 15 minutes of this one had me so bored. It’s leading up to the festival, with the RGB group handling small time nonsense such as stolen cabbages. It’s fine to have a slow pace but it has to be justified. In this instance the episode goes out of it’s way to keep things high energy dialogue wise but paces itself as slowly as it possibly can. The contrast between the two makes the episode somewhat frustrating for the first half of it.
Thankfully the episode does pick up in the last half with the RGB group having to use their powers to make a choice again. However, this time things don’t quite go as swimmingly which I liked. I was thankful for the change and liked that RGB aren’t stereotypical “if we do this together we can do anything!” And end up being OP as all hell. They technically lose this one by their standards and have to now deal with the consequences. But not without another massive surprise being thrown on everyone by the appearance of Carneades. A mysterious figure we’re yet to know anything about but claims to be behind the “choices.” And promises more.
Overall this was a strong episode once it got going but it did need a little encouragement to do so. I loved it and can’t wait to see what happens with this new Carneades character.
