Superman and Lois “Lies That Bind” Roundtable

We are back again to discuss this drama filled episode of Superman and Lois “Lies That Bind”. When we left off last, Clark had just told his big secret to Lana (Emmanuelle Chriqui). And that is where we start up this newest episode.

Superman & Lois “Lies That Bind” Synopsis

Jordan (Alex Garfin)  and Jonathan (Jordan Elsass) question whether Lois (Elizabeth Tulloch) and Clark (Tyler Hoechlin) are telling them the complete story; Natalie (Tayler Buck) tries her best to get Sarah (Inde Navarrette) to acknowledge Jordan

How did you feel about how Lana takes the news?

PB: I think she was in shock and also kinda mad at herself for not putting it together sooner. She was also hurt but I am not sure hurt is what she should be feeling.

C: She definitely seemed mad at herself, but I totally understand why she was pissed at Clark for not telling her sooner. They’ve been friends since they were kids after all. All in all, I think it was pretty understandable.

Do you think Lana’s anger toward Lois is misplaced?

C: Yeah, absolutely. She’s been dealing with so much recently with her marriage breakup and running for Mayor that I think this just pushed her over the edge and she lashed out at the one person she thought was her friend.

PB: It is totally misplaced. Lana is playing the victim and being kinda selfish. Lois was doing what she had to protect her family. Lana would do the same thing if the tables were turned. I think she is kinda jealous of Lois because Lois has the life she wanted when she was younger and in love with Clark. Lana really just bugged me this episode.

The Kent brothers return to school and Jonathan doesn’t not get the warmest welcome from his former football teammates. Do you think they will ever get over it or will it turn into something more?

PB: Teenagers suck and I have a bad feeling the boys being upset over the football season being canceled is not going to stop anytime soon. Jordan can only help so much. It will definitely continue until he cant take it anymore and Jonathan will blow up.

C:  Honestly? I think they’ve forced this storyline in order to create more conflict. I think it would have been better to keep Jonathan out of school, rather than put him in this situation with everything that’s going on with his Bizarro-self etc.

Superman, John Henry (Wole Parks) and Lois’s father Sam (Dylan Walsh) are working together in order to break the merging pendant. Do you think their decision to let Tal-Rho (Adam Rayner) free was the best decision?

C:  Absolutely. More Tal-Rho is always welcome if you ask me. I really like the fact that he genuinely seems to have come round to the good side, even if he is still mostly on his own side.

PB: I kinda love Tal- Rho. Deep down he loves Superman because he is the only family he has. I love watching the brotherly love that happens whenever these two are together.

Jordan, Jonathan, and Natalie decide to skip school. Natalie shows the brothers what she has been working on in secret. It is another high tech armored super suit. She gives it to Jonathan as a gift. Do you think Jonathan and Natalie will become a couple?

PB: I thought she was going to be with Jordan but he was so hung up on Sarah still. But I would not be mad at the idea of Jonathan and Natalie together.

C: I really hope not. I know Natalie’s mother is an alternate universe Lois… but the idea of them together is kinda icky if you really think about it.

Superman and Tal-Ro work together to break the merging pendent.  In the middle of the 1st attempt to break it, Ally (Rya Kihlstedt) shows up and seems to suck the life out of Tal-Rho and later she does suck the life out of Bizarro Tal-Rho. What power do you think she has now that she is a “God”?

C: It’s pretty impressive, she also partly stole Clark’s power which was a bit scary. She can obviously fly, and seems to be pretty damn strong, rivalling a Kryptonian even. I just hope they can figure out her weakness cos I can see her going around the bizarro world and sucking the life/power out of everyone else to make herself stronger, before coming back to Earth to go up against Clark again.

PB: She has some seriously strong powers but I have a feeling she also has a weakness that they just haven’t discovered. But that fact that she can suck the life out of other supes and drain their energy to power herself up is really scary. I wonder if she will become greedy for power and begin killing her followers.

Speaking of Tal-Ro, he escaped when John Henry and Superman were dealing with Ally. Do you think he will come back to cause trouble or will he just stay quiet?

PB: I think he is gonna stay quiet for a bit but he is gonna come back because he loves to cause trouble. He can’t help himself. I would love him to come back and just work side by side with Superman but I know that is wishful thinking.

C: Always a tough call with him. His sense of self-preservation is pretty damn strong, so I think he might hide out for a bit, until his strength hopefully recovers, and then come back to help Clark in the final fight against Ally that I imagine is coming.

The episode ends with Lana basically telling Clark and Lois that she doesn’t want them in her or her family’s life anymore. She said keeping this secret makes her feel like a liar to her family. Do you think she is making the right decision or over reacting?

C: I sort of understand where she’s coming from, but she still knows the Kent family secrets and is keeping them from her daughters, so she’s still going to feel the same way even if they aren’t around the Kents. I think the pressure will get too much, she will slip and tell Sarah.  After all, this episode is called  “Lies That Bind”, and I think that refers to the fact that she is now bound to the Kents as she knows the truth about Clark and Jordan.

PB: I am over Lana. She is taking this way too hard. She isn’t even seeing the benefits of having Superman as her best friend. I think this is going to bite her in the butt. She will need them before they will need her. Plus, Jordan hasn’t given up on getting Sarah back in his life. So I am sure this is going to blow up somehow.
