Music Monday: A Star is Born Soundtrack

A Star is Born

A Star Is Born

“A Star is Born” opened in theaters nation wide on Friday and the reviews have been really good. Sadly, I haven’t seen it yet but since I am a music fan and love Lady Gaga; I had to listen to the soundtrack. It is really good. Filled with so much emotion in these songs I can only image how this plays out in the movie.

Remake of a Remake of a Remake

I knew it was a remake, but I didn’t know it had been remade three different times. The first time the movie was made was in 1937, starring Janet Gaynor and Fredric March as the two main characters. Then again in 1954 starring James Mason and Judy Garland. The third remake which starred Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson and came out in 1976. All the movies are based around music, but each a little different story line.

There is an amazing review on this movie and it gives more details on the difference is story lines with all the remakes post on the Wall Street Journal written by Joe MorgensternI highly recommend it; here is the link.

The Music

Think of this post as Soundtrack Sunday on Music Monday. Thank goodness for Youtube and Spotify cause I was able to listen to the entire soundtrack. I know Lady Gaga can sing but I didn’t know that Bradley Cooper could. Hell he is damn near a Renaissance man. He not only stars in the movie but he also directed and he sang in it too. He sings very well if I do say so myself.

I was really impressed with these two songs. He has a bit of country feel to this voice but its good, kind of haunting and raspy.

We all know Gaga can sing and she does it amazingly on this soundtrack.  The one song that stands out to me is heartbreaking and beautiful. “I’ll Never Love Again” might be my new favorite song by her. Here have a listen.

I also really like “Heal Me”. The lyrics just hit home for me. Guess, I am just a broken girl wanting to be healed or maybe I just love heart-break songs.

Another break up sad song that I just love is “Always Remember Us This Way”. It really pulls at my heart.

The entire soundtrack is on Spotify. You should give it a listen and comment below with any of your favorites.

Until next time, catch you on the B-side.
