Superman and Lois “Tried and True” opens with us finding out how Bizrrao came to Earth and we see some faces that we know very well and yet in this verse they are different.
Episode Synopsis for Superman and Lois “Tried and True”
Lois (Elizabeth Tulloch) tells Clark (Tyler Hoechlin) that she and Chrissy plan to do a deeper dive into the Inverse Society; Lana (Emmannuelle Chriqui) and Sarah (Inde Navarrette) try to comfort each other after the fallout at Sarah’s quinceañera; Jordan (Alex Garfin) notices something suspicious in Jonathan (Jordan Elsass)’s book bag
What did you notice in the opening scene that was either the same or different in Bizarro’s home from Superman/Clark world?
C: Can we just take a moment? That opening was EPIC! Loved the red sun to start with. Also seeing Bizarro had a cat made me super nostalgic for Shelby the Golden Retriever from Smallville. I wonder if maybe we’re going to get Clark having Krypto the Superdog at some point (or if Titans has that on lock)? Superpowered Lana was cool as hell. I really hope we see more of her!
PB: Besides the red undertone to the sky, I noticed that Bizarro’s had a family, kids and a cat but they all seem to be gone or maybe dead in his world. I also noticed that Lana was on team Superman and had powers. I really wonder if that will somehow come to Superman’s world.
Also is Bizarro’s world the earth’s core?
PB: He did say our world split but when it showed him “flying” to earth he seemed to come through the earth’s core.
C: Still not entirely sure how that whole thing works. Bizarro crashed into the mines in his world, and then he emerged from the mines in ours. Faulkner said a couple of episodes back that “something came through” so I’m wondering if there is some sort of Inverse portal in the mines we haven’t seen yet, or if it’s to do with that mechanical suit he was wearing?
Can we pause for the best scene in this episode…..Clark shirtless flexing as he brushes his teeth…..fangirl down?
C: I had to rewatch that scene about 3 times before I actually got what was being said. Did the writers really expect anyone to listen to exposition dialogue with a shirtless Tyler Hoechlin (in PJ pants no less) on the screen? If so, I think someone needs to check some pulses in the S&L writers’ room!
PB: I may or may not have paused my TV just to stop and stare at the greatness that is Tyler without his shirt on….Hello CW we need more of this in our lives.
So Anderson (Ian Bohen) is getting into trouble because of his “issues” with Superman. Do you think he will ever get over them?
PB: I feel like no matter who is in charge of the Dept of Defence they will always have issues with Superman because is more powerful than them.
C: I’m still holding out hope that he will get his shit together and accept that Superman belongs to the World, not just the USA, and that there are things only HE can deal with. Like crazy doppelgangers with amulets that hold the power to destroy the world. He’s just being stubborn and kind of an asshole at this point.
Jonathan is still lying to Jordan about how he got his powers and now he is starting QB. Do you think he really had powers and the inhaler is just bringing them out or do you think it is just the inhaler?
C: I really hope that the X-K inhaler is bringing out his latent abilities (that he should have…because he should be Superboy!) but with this show I honestly don’t know now.
PB: I wanna believe that Jonathan had powers and the inhaler is just bringing them out sooner than later. But time will time if he is a natural supes or just a drug enhanced supes.
What do you think about the unplanned family reunion?
PB: It looks like he meant well but the hate and distrust between the sisters run deep. It will take sometime before the sisters are on the same page and love eachother again.
C: It was really cool to see Lucy (Guest Star Jenna Dewan) and the boys together, talking football, and generally having the whole family together, albeit briefly. I hope that Lois is able to get Lucy to see the truth about Ally and bring her back to the family properly.
How do you feel about Lana and Clark’s friendship?
C: I LOVE IT! It’s really refreshing to see Clark and Lana as friends, to show it’s possible to have that as grown-ups, that childhood friendships can stand the test of time (and one being a secret superhero!)
PB: It’s so hard for me to see Lana and Clark as friends because of Lana and Clark on Smallville. But on this show it is nice to see Clark have a female friend that isn’t Lois. Honestly, my heart is breaking for Lana but she is stronger than she needs.
Do you think Lois should tell Lucy the truth about Clark and she knows?
PB: I think this might be the perfect time to tell the secret because it will bring the family closer and it seems like the family needs more Lucy in their lives.
C: I definitely think it would help, and given the Ally situation I think it’s going to happen sooner rather than later.
What do you think of Clark/Superman being arrested for not giving up Bizarro?
C: as much as I love Ian Bohen, and he’s making a great secondary antagonist…he shot Supes with a Kryptonite bullet to save his own ass and that’s not cool. Plus he’s gonna keep him with Tal Rho? That’s not gonna help ANYONE!
PB: I think it is total BS and this new General Anderson is gonna regret what he did. And shot Superman with a kryptonite bullet. He needs to go down and fast. No one hit Superman with a Krypo Bullet and gets away with it. He is a total ass and I am over him.
