Star Wars : The Last Jedi Trailer Most Viewed for Lucasfilm!
The official trailer for Rian Johnson’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi is one of the most-viewed trailers ever for Lucasfilm! Anticipation is running high for the forthcoming eighth episode in the ongoing Skywalker saga. The film seeks to bring Mark Hamill’s Luke Skywalker back into the fold. It also is continuing the stories that began with J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens.
Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi‘s official trailer debuted on ESPN during Monday Night Football earlier this week; just as Lucasfilm had done with The Force Awakens two years ago. Pre-sale tickets started going on sale shortly before. According to StarWars.com, the trailer was viewed more than 120.1 million times worldwide within its first 24 hours. This is 29.1 million more views than the film’s teaser trailer that debuted at Star Wars Celebration 2017 earlier this year, thus setting a new studio record.
The new trailer, coupled with the release of the film’s official theatrical poster as well as tickets going on sale, is why The Last Jedi dominated the social media buzz. The trailer was competing with Zack Snyder’s Justice League, which also received its final trailer this past weekend.. Aside from trailer views, what people may be wondering now is whether or not Star Wars: The Last Jedi will beat The Force Awakens at the box office come this December.
