Shameless is back for the 11th season – the last one – which started the night of December 6th on Showtime.

Shameless – “The Fickle Lady Is Calling It Quits” Synopsis

Kev and V announce their big news. Lip has some promising leads on selling the house, forcing Debbie to reevaluate her future and her history of regrettable love interests. Ian and Mickey try to adjust to a vastly different life on the West Side. Carl’s commitment to the force is challenged when he’s reassigned to an unglamorous police unit. Liam reminds Frank of everything that makes Frank, Frank.

What happened on Shameless – “The Fickle Lady Is Calling It Quits”?

Being the last episode before the grand finale, every piece of the show is starting to go different ways. Except for Frank who, due to his dementia, is still stuck in the past and donating important life pills for (almost) the last time.

We can clearly see that this episode is focused on how the family is trying to move on. Ian and Mickey are in their new apartment in the West Side, even though Mickey doesn’t seem to fit in as much as Ian does. In fact, we see him going back to their old house in the South Side to spend the night. Why falling asleep while listening to car crashes and shootings videos when you can hear them live in the other part of the city?

Kev and V are one step ahead of everyone and ready to leave, even if Kev starts doubting about everything they’d have to leave there. But it doesn’t seem to stop Vi at all.

Carl, after having the best character development in the show, is ready to pursuit his police career he’s truly taking it seriously. Instead, Lip sadly lost the opportunity to get a good bunch of money for the family house and he had to start all over again.

But the end brings us back to the person who started it all – Frank. After spending a nice day with Liam, the only one still caring about him, he falls under the influence of drugs and closes the episode.

Final Review

This episode was a perfect mix of fun and sadness pre grand finale. I have truly appreciated Noel Fisher acting in this episode. Once again he confirmed there couldn’t have been a better fit for Mickey. Same goes to William H. Macy and his Frank. This tv show truly made them, and the rest of the cast, shine. My only doubt remains Debbie: how will her story end?
