Shameless – “Nimby” Review

THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS

Shameless is back for the 11th season – the last one – which started the night of December 6th on Showtime.

Shameless “Nimby” Synopsis

The Milkoviches move in next door and wreak havoc, leading Frank, Kev and Liam to plot how to get rid of them. Mickey embarks on a new security gig for Kev and V and drags Ian along against his will. V and Debbie turn into stage moms when Gemma and Franny compete in the Little Miss South Side beauty pageant. Lip gets a big surprise when he reluctantly agrees to go to brunch with Tami and her old high school music teacher. When Carl’s training officer is overly aggressive, Carl is forced to choose between his job and his neighborhood.

What happened on Shameless “Nimby”?

The episode starts with the Milkoviches moving basically next door to the Gallaghers. It obviously doesn’t sound right, so Frank (William H. Macy), Kev (Steve Howey) and Liam start planning how they can kick them out. Of course nothing seems to work – even the thoughest gang in the neighbourhood is afraid of them.

In the meanwhile, we see a glimpse of rivality between Vi (Shanola Hampton) and Debbie (Emma Kinney). They both enter the competition for Little Miss Southside with their daughters Gemma and Franny. In the end, they both fail to win and all the fuss unnecessary.

A big part of the episode is taken by Lip (Jeremy White) and Tami (Kate Lang Johnson). She got a call from her old music teacher and – how we figured out later – her former lover. Only after meeting him and his new underage girlfriend, Lip and Tami herself notice that she is suffering from the well-known daddy issues. due to her father not being there for her during her childhood and saw him as someone he wasnt.

Even Carl (Ethan Cutkosky) opens his eyes. In fact, he begins to see that Officer Janes isn’t who he thought she was and especially who he wants to be.

Mickey (Noel Fisher) and Ian (Cameron Monaghan) are living their best life while starting a new business as marijuana carriers for a local center. Maybe they have finally found a steady job and will stop arguing about money?

Final Review

This season should have been the best one. It’s also the last one, but it doesn’t really look like it. I sadly don’t see the Shameless atmosphere of the old seasons, even though I see they’re trying to bring it back. I hope to see more action in the next episodes, to avoid this show to end up just like GOT. The only highlight I feel like I have to mention is the speech Vi gave at the competition about the southside.

Don’t miss Shameless final season on Sundays at 9PM ET/PT on Showtime!
