Legends of Tomorrow 602: Meat: The Legends: The crew travel to 1950s California to find an alien that can(hopefully) lead them back to Sara(Caity Lotz). Sara and Gary(Adam Tsekhman) crash land on an alien planet and meet a legend. But not a Legend. Or do they?

Spoilers ahead

Burger Time

The crew tracks one of the aliens to a1950s burger joint in California. Behrad(Shayan Sobhian) reminisces about the time he worked at a burger joint, so he gets a job as a cook to scout out the alien. Nate(Nick Zano) gets a job as a bellhop, and Zari(Tala Ashe) gets a job as someone who wants to badger Behrad about the Totem.

Spooner, picking up Constantine’s spell book: So you just rattle off this hooey and magic stuff happens?
Constantine: Yeah, that’s right.
Spooner(opens spell book and begins reading) “Hoc carmen, conuro-“
Constantine, ripping the book from her hands: Don’t finish that sentence. Not unless you wanna summon a trickster prawn.
Spooner: Yeah, I’d like to see a prawn get one past me.

Spooner(Lisseth Chavez) is having trouble pinpointing the alien, but Rory(Dominic Purcell) says he found the culprit. Turns out it’s just a human, but the goo he vomits up when Constantine(Matt Ryan) uses a spell on him is alien. The goo also happens to be the sauce used on the burgers at the burger joint.

Ava, Rory, Spooner, and Constantine are looking at the goo.
Ava: Is that Big Bang Burger’s secret sauce?
Spooner: D-Don’t touch that! And definitely don’t eat it.
Ava: Why would I eat it?
Spooner: That’s the alien!
Rory: That’s the alien?
Constantine: What, you mean they’re charging twenty five cents extra to eat an alien? That’s kind of a bargain, really.

The reason Spooner can’t pinpoint the alien is because it is in everyone that has eaten a burger.

But the sauce isn’t the alien. That is at the burger joint owner’s house, unbeknownst to him. Ava(Jes Macallan) finds out his wife is using the alien’s goo from it’s chrysalis to make the sauce.

Gary and Sara have crash landed on a planet with two moons. And a dog. The dog leads them to Amelia Earhart(Jen Oleksiuk). She doesn’t know how she got there. She promises to help repair the ship. Then she says the exact same thing over and over, like a Stepford Wife. She’s not really Amelia. A wounded Sara and Gary escape head back to the ship.

The Alien Emerges

The alien goo was designed to make anyone who ate it ravenous for meat, to fatten them up for the alien’s eventual hatching.

After the alien eats a few people, Ava decides it won’t do any good to take it to the ship, and Spooner blasts it.

Thoughts on Meat: The Legends:

A much better episode than the season six premier.

I agree with Sara. I wouldn’t want to get stuck with Gary, either.

Finally! More Nate. His man sass is essential.

Totally feel ya, Behrad. I worked in a burger joint, too. Something cathartic about working a grill in a mom and pop joint.

Constantine must have had flashbacks in the meat locker; he had quite the encounter in the NBC series Constantine episode “A Feast of Friends,” one of the finest, most heartbreaking episodes of any show in TV history. Find the episode and watch it.
