Recap: Legends of Tomorrow 5X04: A Head of Her Time
The Legends travel to 18th Century France to stop good smelling party girl Marie Antoinette.

A Spirit Released
John(Matt Ryan) is trapped in a room with a vengeful spirit. Gary(Adam Tsekhman) clumsily frees the spirit, named Natalie(Alice Hunter), releasing her into John’s house.
Ava Becomes Boss Babe
Sara(Caity Lotz) has business in Star City, and leaves a very nervous Ava(Jes Macallan) in charge.
Dead Man’s Hand
Playing poker in hell, Astra(Olivia Swann) is informed that she is losing her encores, and needs to get her shit together. We see that John has a coin of his own that Astra wears around her neck.

The Tour and a New Mission
Behrad(Shayan Sobhian) is giving Zari(Tala Ashe) a tour of the ship. Gideon(voiced by Amy Louise Pemberton) can make discontinued butter! Zari finds out the ship can make clothing and check the future. Ava stops her from doing just that, and calls a team meeting.
Assess Listen Observe Hydrate Attack, Oy
At a team meeting, Ava introduces the team to the acronym ALOHA. The phrase “Austrian Toast” alerts Ava and Gideon soon confirms that the next mission is in eighteenth century Revolution era France.
Zari invites herself on the mission, and sprays Ava with her new perfume.
Spray, delay, walk away, y’all.

At a guillotine filled party, party girl Zari uses her influencer smarts(usually those two words together would be an oxymoron, accent on moron) to get into the soiree, when Ava cannot.
And the guillotine is being used to…cut cake by a very familiar looking Marie Antoinette(brilliantly done by Courtney Ford)!

Nate(Nick Zano), Behrad, and Ray(Brandon Routh) are instantly smitten by Marie, and become useless. Again, Zari finds her social media influencer skills vital to the mission(proving this show is indeed fiction). Marie gets re-decapitated, so the crew takes her in pieces back to the ship. The body gets Mick’s(Dominic Purcell) gun, and ends up chasing him-and Ray-through the ship.
Natalie and John
“Is that Mucous Membrane?”

The spirit is roaming the house, projecting memories from the past that Gary, Charlie(Maisie Richardson-Sellers), and John can see. He loved Natalie, once, but couldn’t give up magic.

The spirit possesses Charlie, forcing her to shapeshift into Natalie.
She tells John that he has to save Astra for Astra, not for him.
Astra wants John dead, and takes his coin to its maker(Sarah Strange). It seems he has ten years before his cigarette induced cancer kills him, but that’s not soon enough for Astra.
Zari’s Perfume Stinks, But Marie’s Has Charm
Zari finds out her future, and it isn’t that great. She also finds out that Marie’s powers are perfume fueled.
She steals Marie’s perfume, and heads to her own time period-and perfume launch-to use it. The bottle spills all over her, and it makes the red carpet crowd come after her.
Ava figures out the reason Ava and Zari weren’t affected during Marie’s party was because Zari’s new perfume blocks the olfactory senses. She sprays the rest of the team. They fight off the crowd until she can grab Zari’s hand and jump into a fountain, cleaning off the perfume and releasing the spell.
Zari is a team member, now, and discovers she has a real friend for the first time in her life in Ava.

John’s life, however is ending. Astra goes to the Coin Maker and has her speed up the time on his cancer, John begins coughing up blood, collapsing on the floor of his house, while Gary and Charlie look on, horrified and helpless.
