Music Monday – Swifty

The Grammys 2020

I am feeling random today so here comes the most random of my blog posts ever…

Taylor_Swift_-_1989
Well, if you know me, you know I am not a Taylor Swift fan. Nothing against her, or her fans – the “Swiftys”… or however you spell it – I am just not a fan. But last night, I was watching Barbara Walters Presents the 10 Most Fascinating People of 2014 and Taylor was #2. I was fascinated that she was the only one to sell 1 million copies of her album in 2014… correction: OVER 1 million copies. That is great. This day and age, with so many ways to download music for free, she still managed to sell a lot. Hell, she was even on the cover of Time magazine this year, which to me is like a big thing. I mean, it’s Time magazine. TIME magazine… for breaking news, hard-hitting stories, etc. I guess she was big news in 2014.

I’ll be the first to admit her songs this year were pretty catchy. I couldn’t help but sing them even though I didn’t like them. She definitely is an earworm. LOL. But watching her tonight on Barbara Walters, I couldn’t help but laugh and be impressed. She’s only 25 but she’s been working since she was 16. And though her dating life is all over the Internet, as well as in her songs, she’s able to make fun of her life and even make fun of the fact that she write songs about her breakups. Maybe I’m even envious a little bit of her success. And maybe even jealous of the some of the guys she’s dated. Hello? Jake Gyllenhaal! But I must say she’s had a banner year.

Here are 2 of her songs that I secretly sing when no one else is around.

Shake It Off

Blank Space

And lastly, here is a SNL clip from this year that my girl Jo sent to me. It sums up perfectly how I feel about T. Swift.

So, are you a fan? Are you a Swifty? Let me know below. (And for the record, I am not a Swifty.)

Queen I finally watched the movie about Queen, Bohemian Rhapsody, last night and I loved it. So that made me think why not do a post with ...
