Preacher 2X07: “Pig”
- Herr Starr’s Backstory, Tulip’s Deathwish, and Denis’s…Not.
- Might not want to eat during this one.
- Spoilers
Preacher starts out with a floating pig being worshipped in Vietnam. There is no show produced besides Preacher where I could type that and it make sense.
We see Herr Starr(Pip Torrens), heading to Vietnam to handle the situation.
Cassidy Gets Shot
Finding a bar with a game where getting shot has a payout, Tulip(Ruth Negga), Cassidy(Joseph Gilgun) and Jesse(Dominic Cooper) win big.
Cassidy wins extra big because he gets to pretend to be Tulip’s boyfriend and she kisses him. Telling Cassidy you love him is not your best move, Tulip.
Who Is Herr Starr?
We see Herr’s origins, a military man, already scarred in his right eye. He is talking to the head of the mysterious Grail. Starr is a candidate for this holy organization, and wants his parking validated. After rigorous tryouts, Herr remains the last man standing in a hilarious montage that takes the Men in Black tryouts and ramps them up to eleven. Then it ramps them to twelve and a half.
Tulip’s Having Troubles
Badass Tulip is having horrible nightmares after last week’s encounter with The Saint of Killers(Graham McTavish). Jesse is not very forthcoming on what happened to the Saint. She begins having nightmares within nightmares about his return. Tulip handles this the only way she knows how.
Jesse and the Street Preacher
Jesse finds a street preacher who is yelling gloom and doom. He talks to the man, finding out a little about him. For all his alcoholic blustering, the street preacher teaches Jesse, and gives him a valid warning.
We Finally Know What Denis Wants
Number one would be to spell his name correctly in past posts. Sorry, Denis(Ronald Guttman)!
He knows what his father, Cassidy, is, and wants to live forever. Cassidy refuses him, or does he?
Thoughts
Very entertaining this week. Herr Starr was perfect, and the dark humor of the comic really came through this episode.
Cassidy in the morgue made me laugh out loud.
I am nervous as to how they will handle The Grail’s secret, though.
I hope Tulip’s form of therapy isn’t foreshadowing…
