Nicholas Hoult has been cast as JD Salinger in Rebel In The Rye. Written and directed by Danny Strong , the film is based on Kenneth Slawenski’s biography J.D. Salinger: A Life. Salinger, who is known for writing the classic story The Catcher in the Rye, passed away in 2010.
The adaptation will focus on Salinger’s life: his rebellious youth, his time in the service during World War II and his rise to fame, which ultimately led to him to withdraw from public view.
Bloom Media will be introducing the project to foreign buyers at the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival.
Hoult is known for his work in About A Boy, Warm Bodies, Equals, and X-Men: Apocalypse.
