Back in June 2015, Screen Daily reported that Claire Denis was working on her first English-language film. Denis (Bastards) will collaborate with British writer Zadie Smith (White Teeth). As of that article, little was known of the unnamed film. Plot details are being kept under wraps on the adventure-sci-fi but it is known to take place beyond the solar system in a ‘future that seems like the present’. (Screen Daily)
This week, Alcatraz Films announced that Robert Pattinson will be cast as lead in the film.
“We are very proud and very happy, as is Claire, about what will be a great collaboration. Robert is committed to the project and we are committed to him.”
Denis regulars Wild Bunch are handling international sales while Des Hamilton is casting the project, which is currently in advanced development, and is expected to partly shoot in studio in Cologne. Shooting is expected to begin in early 2016.
