My Isekai Life “Infiltrating An Ominous Village” Review

My Isekai Life “Infiltrating An Ominous Village” is the sixth episode of the My Isekai Life anime. Following the finding of the secret trap door at the end of episode 5, Yuji follows it to find a secret underground technological base. Technology that he’s not even sure exists in that world. Eventually he realises just how huge the place is and makes his slimes invisible so they can infiltrate it for him without members of the Blue Moon catching him. They follow the long road and finally the slimes find a ladder to climb which leads to the suspicious village of Messias. The Blue Moon were using it as a front. With all that said and done Yuji’s Slimes follow the Blue Moon members to an area with a bunch of books and scrolls that they swallow, they also find a bunch of treasure in a secret vault. One of the members sees they’ve been robbed so they report to the head of the order who conveniently enough comes to the false conclusion that the only reason the intruder hasn’t killed them is because of the Cleansing Flame which only activates if all of them die. They all commit suicide as a way to destroy the intruder using the Cleansing Flame and it’s so strong Yuji’s existing magic isn’t enough to stop it. He makes a whole new spell by figuring out what type of spell the Cleansing Flame is and even though it pushes him almost past his limit he’s able to stop the flame spreading and harming anyone. When Yuji finally returns to Ricaardo, he’s greeted warmly and told the freeze is almost at an end as the curse has been lifted. The final scene shows Yuji trying to read the scrolls he stole from the underground tunnels but they’re all magical and the text disappears besides one; a list of names, with his name at the end.

Yuji the Unstoppable

I think this episode highlights exactly what a lot of people don’t like about this show. As much as I’m willing to ignore it because I love it, it has to be said, it’s riddled with conveniences. From running into two soldiers who happen to say their leader’s name out loud, to the leader openly handing Yuji the info he needed because of a misunderstanding. These guys are meant to be a threat but they’re so dumb that it’s actually amusing.

The show is riddled with conveniences, plot skips, and really cheesy writing and this episode especially was one of the main culprits of all three but you know I think that’s why I like it so much. I don’t take it seriously so it’s just a bit of lazy fun.
