Music Monday – The Princess Bride
I’m not going to waffle too much, but I couldn’t let this momentous occasion pass without marking it. You see, today marks the 30th Anniversary of the release of my favourite movie of all time. The Princess Bride is one of those movies that has lines which have passed into common parlance. Even if you’ve never seen the movie (INCONCEIVABLE) you probably know some of its quotable moments.

This iconic movie also has one of the most beautiful theme songs ever. And this is what I’m bringing you for this Music Monday. Written by Willy DeVille and arranged by Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits, Storybook Love tugs at every one of your heartstrings!
Random movie trivia moment. Did you know that Mark Knopfler was a huge fan of director Rob Reiner’s previous movie This Is Spinal Tap. So much so that he agreed to do the soundtrack for The Princess Bride but only if Tap “director” Marti DiBergi’s cap featured in the movie. It’s visible on the wall in the grandson’s bedroom.
That’s not the only Spinal Tap connection though. The Six Fingered Man, Count Rugen, is played by Christopher Guest who played The Tap’s lead guitarist Nigel Tufnel (these go to eleven).
