‘Mission: Impossible 5’ Has a New Release Date

Paramount has confirmed that the release date for Mission: Impossible 5 has been moved up from Dec. 25. to July 31. Yes, that’s five months early!

Christopher McQuarrie directs from a script by Drew Pearce and Will Staples. Cruise produces along with J. J. Abrams, and David Ellison of Skydance Productions.

While no plot details have been officially divulged at this time, it is known that Tom Cruise will return as Ethan Hunt. He will be joined by past franchise stars Jeremy Renner, Paula Patton, Ving Rhames and Simon Pegg.

The move puts Mission: Impossible 5 on the same weekend when Guardians of the Galaxy opened last year, ending up as the highest-grossing film of the summer. It also puts Mission three months ahead of the Nov. 6 launch of Spectre, the next James Bond movie.

Paramount is also moving its animated Monster Trucks action project back from May 29 into the Christmas slot.
