Manifest : Destination Unknown Round Table Review

We are back with another round table review for Manifest Season 3 Episode 8 called “Destination Unknown”. Joining me (Rike) on this one are Mandy and Anna Maria. Are you guys ready? Let’s do this!

Manifest: Destination Unknown Synopsis

As Mick (Melissa Roxburgh) and Ben (Josh Dallas) join forces to aid a desperate Flight 828 passenger, Saanvi (Parveen Kaur) grapples with a discovery at Eureka, and the burden of secrecy that comes with it. Grace (Athena Karkanis) and Angelina’s (Holly Taylor) bond deepens. A maturing Cal (Jack Messina) enlists Zeke’s (Matt Long) help in a personal matter.

Your opinion about this episode in general?

R: I was so happy to see Cal and Zeke sharing some scenes together again. One of my favorite duos for sure. On the other hand, like Mandy already said, Rachel’s (Sarah Hunt) story was interesting to watch. However, my Zekaela heart didn’t like the ending that much. This doesn’t look promising. At least there will be drama for sure.

M: I liked this episode. It’s good to see Ben and Mick working together again. Rachel’s story however was heartbreaking.

AM: I really enjoyed this episode. It was good seeing Ben and Michaela work together again, and I’m glad they were able to stop Jonas (Robert Eli). Also this episode was quite funny in addition to some interesting storylines.

Saanvi is still working for the NSA – is this worth the risk?

AM: At first I didn’t like her decision, some shady shit is happening there, but at the same time it might be worth having an insider there. I don’t like how she is keeping things from Ben though.

M: It’s good to have an insider at the NSA, because I don’t fully trust Vance (Daryl Edwards). I think she might keep it a secret first, but I think -hope- she’ll tell Ben eventually.

R: I really don’t like seeing her work for the NSA. I know, it’s always good to have an insider like Mandy said, but this whole thing is about to blow up. I can feel it and I don’t want Saanvi to feel even worse than she already does. Isn’t there like another option?

Now we’ve seen Ben’s reaction to Rachel trying to „destroy“ their lifeboat by killing someone. How do you think he’s going to take the news that Saanvi was responsible for the major’s (Elizabeth Marvel) death?

M: I don’t think this may end very well.. He is going to be pissed for sure, but honestly at this point they all are keeping secrets from one another. So all of them keeping secrets from each other is not gonna end well for them. Eventually secrets have a way of coming out. It’d be best for their friendship and trust to be honest to each other, before they find out and feel betrayed or something like that.

R: This is gonna be interesting to see, if it happens (one day). I mean, they’re good friends, but this is still huge news and not in a good way. Clearly not in a good way. I’m not sure if he’ll go all in, or if he’s going to try and hide his emotions in the first place. I really want to watch this scene. Probably going to be an emotional one.

AM: He will not take that lightly, and will be pissed for sure. I hope it won’t ruin their friendship for good. I’m also curious when he will find out, maybe in the season finale?

Egyptian Mythology, Peacock Feathers and a volcano, along with Sapphires. Can you still keep up with everything going on?

R: I’m completely lost. Like 100%. Please help me out. I really don’t understand anything anymore. This whole mythological part is too much for me. Hopefully things will change during the next episodes. Or it’s going to be even more of a mess, who knows?

AM: I’m barely hanging on. I do remember the peacock though, but remembering what all the different symbols mean etc, is pretty much impossible.

M: I finally understand the peacock callings now. It’s sort of starting to make sense now. I’ve read a bunch of different theories about Noah’s Ark that seem very interesting. We are really getting a somewhat answer to the mystery. So far it seems like the mystery is connected to the egyptian mythology that started 6000 years ago. The peacock and the volcano are connected. That’s the first disappearance and returnee moment. I wonder what the sapphire stands for, since every returnee has sapphire. Did they go to a place filled with sapphire or something after they disappeared, but before they returned? I am excited to see how the sapphire is connected to them exactly.

Angelina is in this cloud of darkness right now and blocking out nearly all the good things around her. She needs to open herself up to positive thinking again. Do you think Eden will be that light for her? Is she trying to replace Olive?

AM: It is scary to see Angelina acting like this, especially that last scene was creepy. She is definitely good with Eden though, so it is a bit unpredictable where they are going with this story line. Hopefully Eden can be that light for her.

M: It truly looks like she’s trying to replace Olive or take over her life at least. It looked like it started when she first picked up Eden, so I am thinking has she gone through something traumatic? Did she once have a baby? But lost that baby and now feels connected to Eden? Perhaps thinking Eden is her baby she lost? I don’t know, but it’s creepy to say the least. I hope it’s not going to get worse, but knowing this show it probably will.

R: This last scene was kinda scary. Angelina wearing Olive’s dress? Where are you going girl? I do understand that she wants to be a part of this family somehow, but this whole behavior is giving me some bad vibes for sure. Don’t you dare to hurt the Stone’s and especially not poor little Eden. I don’t know if a little baby can change her mind on whatever she’s planning on doing. She’s definitely not trustworthy in my opinion. Maybe this time where she’s been locked up has some after effects now. And who knows, maybe she has a special calling, which they didn’t show us yet.

Do you think Zeke noticed Mick being jealous of Sarah (Lauren Norvelle) and Jared (J.R. Ramirez)?

M: Oh, he definitely noticed it. Next week’s episode is going to be very interesting. When Zeke and Michaela got together. I never once believed Michaela was over Jared. She has years of history with Jared. It doesn’t just go away like that and seeing your ex dating someone new is never fun. I am curious what Zeke is gonna do though. Since he told Cal they couldn’t use the callings or his sense for personal gain, as for example love. But now Zeke felt what Mick feels about Jared moving on. I wonder if he is going to follow his own words and not use the sense for personal gain or is he going to react to it.

R: I’m pretty sure he did when we saw this blurry image of him. Let’s see how this goes. They’re probably going to sit down and have a conversation or Zeke is just gonna hide this and wait for more. But like I already said in the last round table, this is a tough one with Zeke always knowing what Mick is feeling. It can be good, but it can also be the complete opposite like we just saw with the jealous part.

AM: Yeah, I’m pretty sure about that! I’m curious if Zeke will decide to tell Mick, and make them talk about it as Rike mentioned. As a Jachaela fan I am, I definitely don’t mind Zeke seeing Mick’s feelings like this, and I hope it is a sign that the triangle is still very much alive.

Your final score for this episode:

R: Let’s go with an 8.

AM: I’ll give this one a 8,5, partly because of some epic, hilarious lines, but also an interesting episode in general

M: I will give this episode an 8.
