Love, Victor : Victor’s Day Off Round Table Review

We are back again with another round table review for Episode 9 “Victor’s Day Off” from our beloved show “Love, Victor”. Let’s see what’s gonna happen this time. Are you guys ready for some more Creakwood drama? Joining me (Rike) on this round table review are Serena, Lena and Jen. Let’s do this!

Love, Victor : Victor’s Day Off Synopsis

Feeling overwhelmed by his troubles, Victor (Michael Cimino) cuts school with Rahim (Anthony Keyvan) to let off steam.

Your opinion about this episode in general?

R: Really enjoyed watching Victor and Rahim taking a day off together. Also loved the fact that this time they were only focusing on their storylines. Some drama comes in every then and now with Armando (James Martinez) or Benji (George Sear) calling Victor. But overall we were able to see both of them going on a little adventure together. Seemed like they were having a lot of fun and Rahim’s plan kinda worked out.

L: This episode was really fun and unexpected. I loved it, to kinda loosen up the storyline, but also bring about some revelations. Rewound a certain joyous moment a couple of times too.

S: I like this episode. I feel like it’s the only light episode we’ve had and I enjoy seeing Victor having a good time for once. Rahim’s plan to ditch school worked out greatly. I enjoyed seeing the two of them do different things throughout the day and get to know each other better.

J: I truly enjoyed the episode as well. Like Serena said, it is a very lighthearted one that still doesn’t feel like a filler episode but rather moves the story forward without pushing too fast.

Rahim creates a Benji-free zone for a few hours. What did you think about Victor and Rahim going on an adventure together?

L: I love the idea of it and the places Rahim took Victor were so nice and fun, except for them encountering Victor’s father with his girlfriend randomly. Sometimes taking a step back, having some enjoyment and then reapproaching an issue is the perfect move. And excuse me but give those boys some crowns for their awesome singing performance – if you had not already guessed, that was the part I rewound a couple times.

S: I love it! It was great to see them take a break from all the drama and serious stuff and just have some fun. These teens are supposed to have more fun, but all of them have been dealing with a lot. Seeing them take that break to just get food, do their nails and even go to a gay bar was a breathe of fresh air.

J: I absolutely loved it. I loved that Rahim helped Victor take his mind off things for a while and that they had a little adventure, which clearly cheered Victor up. Them spending time together definitely was my favorite part of the episode, I loved seeing Victor distracted and happy and the karaoke part definitely was just the cherry on top.

R: Truly the best. Love the fact that Rahim was just like: Let’s skip school now and go on a little adventure. They had some deep and interesting conversations and watching them singing together in a gay bar was like the highlight of the day in my opinion. Wouldn’t mind them spending more time together to be honest.

Rahim reveals that he decided to come out to his parents by reading a carefully written note card. Did you expect Rahim’s parents to react kinda happily after what we’ve heard about them already?

S: I’m not sure how I expected them to respond. As we have seen in Victor, his story telling your conservative parents about your sexuality isn’t something easy. I’m glad for Rahim that his parents already expected it and that they were expecting.

J: I’m proud of Rahim for coming out and I’m happy that his parents reacted the way they did. Like Rike said, we have seen in this show and in the real world that a reaction like this doesn’t always happen and definitely should not be taken for granted, so we (and especially Rahim) can be thankful for understanding parents like this.

R: Parents are always able to surprise you no matter what. Just because we may have heard some stuff about them in the past doesn’t mean that they can be fully supportive once their son opens up to them. It’s kinda cute that Rahim wrote it all down on a little notecard. Probably the best thing to do in this situation. Happy for him that his parents reacted that way. Sadly, as we already know, it’s not to be taken for granted.

L: I did not expect Rahim’s parents to react that well, but I am immensely happy they did. Also the fact that they knew for a while and still waited for him to make his move – love that! The notecard thing is just adorable and practical to be honest.

Victor and Rahim are spotted by Isabel (Ana Ortiz), who tracked Victor down after he failed to answer his phone. Do you agree that what happened afterwards was the best speech from Isabel so far?

J: Definitely! Isabel positively surprised me during the past couple of episodes and I truly hope that it will continue like this. It was a long time coming and I was hoping that this moment would eventually come. After that speech, I do believe that they are able to fix things and that Isabel can finally properly understand.

R: Definitely! Isabel surprised me more and more during the last couple episodes. She’s finally trying to change into a full supportive mom and I’m all here for it. It’s what Victor deserves after all this time. Still in some sort of “aww-mode” after what Isabel said. “Victor. I need you to hear this. Your happiness is my happiness. If your heart is broken, so is mine.”

L: While I will always cherish her telling her pastor of – that moment was epic – this speech was touching and honest to the core.

S: Yes! Isabel has had quite the journey this season and I’m so glad she’s finally come around to both accept Victor and also talk about the situation with him. We love good communication.

At the end of the day Victor and Rahim seem to have a moment while saying good night to each other. Is there more to come?

R: Maaaaybe? I mean, who knows? Everything seems to be possible, let’s be honest. We just have to wait and see. But let me just tell you this: I would truly support both of them. 100%! They’re pretty damn adorable together.

L: If we know television shows, there sure is. Writers love to have ‘drama’, because they know the viewers eat it up. Personally I would not always need it. Victor and Rahim are definitely good together, but I prefer them as friends.

S: It is pretty obvious there is more to come. Victor and Rahim do have a good chemistry so it’s not weird for either of them to feel that pull.

J: I mean I could definitely see it being a possibility, however I am not sure if Victor can and wants to move on from Benji that quickly. Clearly there’s still feelings that he has for Benji, so I think he is kinda stuck in between. While he seems to be enjoying the distraction from Rahim, I think his heart is still somewhere else.
