The Idaten Deities Know Only Peace “Idaten” Review

The Idaten Deities Know Only Peace “Idaten” is the eighth episode of the Idaten anime. Following on, after a short delay of 5 days, from episode 7 and the match ups made at the end of it. Hayato is left to brawl with the Emperor. Rin continues to fall for Brandy’s tricks and a new anomaly is discovered.

Plot

Both Hayato and Rin’s fights happen at the same time. Hayato beats the Emperor but leaves him to live, he doesn’t care about killing him just that he beat him. Which I have a feeling may come back to bite him later. Rin falls for pretty much every trap Brandy sets for her but eventually gets all the marionettes and Brandy collected up in a massive ball and destroys everything at once. Leaving only the real body of Brandy. Just then, Oobami steps in and starts recounting memories of her from her Grandfather’s point of view and the points of view of other Idaten from 300 years ago. Rin is shocked. Shocked enough to drop her guard completely and allow Brandy to attack. Annoyed that Brandy used her love for her grandfather as a smokescreen she gets mad and kills her.

Whilst Hayato is off recovering from his wounds he spots an Idaten being born. This Idaten was created by the nun, who prayed for the Emperor and for power to protect those who are hurting. And she looks a spitting image of the nun. Prontea approaches the nun after Hayato brings her back to their base. The Idaten nun calls herself Gill. The real nun who Prontea talks to is still alive and human and calls herself Gill sometimes but her name is Gilltina. Every single one of the Idaten are confused. Something like this hasn’t happened before as far as they’re aware.

Review

This was, again, a very plot heavy episode with tons of action. We now know that Itaden take the form of the most potent source of salvation which means that all Itaden take their personalities and forms from humans. A huge reveal. Especially when you consider that Gill and Gilltina will likely be more of a hindrance than help seeing as she doesn’t want anyone killed. Not even the demons that led to her rape. Rin’s past is explored more but nothing we don’t already know from previous episodes.

The biggest reveals in this episode has to be the Gill one and the fact that the Emperor had the chance to nuke everyone in Zoble but chose not to. That’s interesting. The whole “demons are more humane than the Idaten” message is being sent loud and clear.
