Judy Greer in talks to star in the new Halloween sequel

Judy Greer in talks for Halloween sequelJudy Greer (Ant-Man, Jurassic World) is in talks to join the Halloween franchise as Karen, the daughter of Jamie Lee Curtis’ character Laurie Strode.

Blumhouse Productions continued to grow as a major influence in the horror genre, and will now be bringing back one of the most beloved horror franchises of all time. Blumhouse is helping David Gordon Green and Danny McBride’s sequel to John Carpenter’s 1978 hit Halloween get off the ground and into production.

After a few months of talks, some big news came the way of the Halloween sequel when it was announced that Jamie Lee Curtis would return in her iconic role of Laurie Strode. As part of the announcement, the sequel also received a late 2018 release date, meaning the start of production is not far off. That looks to be true with the first new cast member joining.

Deadline reports that Judy Greer is in talks to join the sequel. Should the deal close as expected, Greer will play Karen Strode, the daughter of Laurie. No other details about how Karen will be used in the story have been revealed, but this casting could signal a continued focus on the Strode family.

Laurie had a daughter previously in the franchise, but not one that will be part of this movie. In the Halloween 4-6 timeline, Laurie had a daughter by the name of Jamie, which was played by Danielle Harris in the 4th and 5th movies, and J.C.Brady in the 6th. Let’s also mention Laurie had a son in Halloween H20.

Who is Judy Greer?

Greer has become a familiar onscreen presence over the years and has capitalised on her growing career by joining a few franchises. In 2015 she was part of Jurassic World and Ant-Man, and while she isn’t expected back for Jurassic World : Fallen Kingdom, she will return for Ant-Man & The Wasp next year.

With Greer surely being just the first of many new casting for the sequel, how the rest of this cast shapes up should be something to keep and eye on. If they continue to cast actors of similar staure as Greer and Curtis, then Green should have plenty of talent at his disposal to make the sequel stand out.
