Since 2012, rumors have been flying around the internet about the fate of independent film Serena, a Depression-era love story starring Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper.Originally, Black Swan director Darren Aronofsky had optioned to direct it with plans to cast Angelina Jolie as the lead character, but it ended up in the hands of Oscar-winning Danish director Susanne Bier who insisted on using Lawrence and Cooper. Shot in the Czech Republic in March 2012 after the pair wrapped the Oscar-winning Silver Linings Playbook, the film’s subsequent delay led to industry speculation that the film might never be released.Thankfully for Lawrence-Cooper fans, a release date has now been set – the film will hit cinemas in the UK in late October.
Based on the 2008 bestselling novel of the same name by Ron Rash, Serena is set in Twenties North Carolina and follows the lives of newlywed couple George and Serena Pemberton.
