Intro to the new show SEAL Team.

Intro to a new show – SEAL Team.

We thought we would give you an intro to a new show SEAL Team which airs on CBS on Wednesdays nights.  SEAL Team follows the lives and missions of a Navy SEAL unit as they go where no one else would normally dare.  The unit is commanded by Jason Hayes who is played by the majorly known David Boreanaz.

With news after only 3 episodes a full series run has been ordered.  I thought a look into the show and its cast was only right.

The Show

SEAL Team centres around the lives and missions of a unit led by Jason Hayes.  We explore not only the dangers they face saving people and stopping the bad guys.  In the first episode we see Jason in a therapy session talking about what has happened in the past and how it affects him.  Introducing his family dynamic and the fact that he is separated from his wife but still involved in the family lives.  The Team shows us that even though they are all the toughest people and will get the mission done they also have private lives.

The missions include going in to find dangerous, wanted terrorists and stop them from mass killings,  saving people from the worst situations in far away countries and all this without any glory.  It’s all part of their jobs; keeping people safe by endangering themselves.

These guys are always on duty and at the sound of their pagers have to drop everything and rush into action.  Missing important family events is the norm and it can be a stress on them.  This can be seen through the first few eps in the strains of Jasons home life and the fact Ray might miss an important event himself.  I cant say much as we are still early in the show and well its best yu watch for yourself.

Our characters.

Jason Hayes

Jason Hayes is the leader of the unit.  His charisma and charm are only parts of his personality that we see.  He is a strong leader and even though going through a seperation still has a great devotion to his family.  He’s an amazing leader with close relationships with his team as well as his mission dedication.

Jason is played by David Boreanaz.  David is known by most for playing Angel in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and then in his own series Angel.  Another show he has been a lead on was Bones where he played Seeley Booth.  These two shows and characters show us that David will fit nicely as our unit lead.

Ray

Ray is shown as Jason’s second in command.  He has a family of his own and also a sofa on which Jason is sleeping on.  He knows the plans and makes sure Jason has a sensible and intellectual ear to bend when needed.  We all know that leadership has its burdens and that can be eased by a great second in a unit.

Ray is played by Neil Brown Jr.  Neil is known for many roles in TV and Film including Straight Outta Compton and more recently Dirk Gently.  With the roles he has played I can see he has enough experience and presence to back up our leader.

Sonny Quinn

Sonny is seen as a rough, tough, Texan. He’s loyal, but not so blindly that he doesn’t argue with his team leader if he thinks there’s a different way to do something.  One of the best relationships we’ve seen so far is with him and Cerberus, the team’s explosive detection dog.

Sonny Quinn is played by AJ Buckley.  AJ has been in a host of shows and movies including Supernatural as Ed Zeddmore who is one of the Ghostfacers.  He is also known for playing lab tech Adam Ross in CSI NY proving that in the world of crime geeks rule.  In films he has been in Disturbing Behavior as one of the brain altered children made to follow all the rules.   Other films include Skateland, Walking Tall 2: Payback and The Box as well as voice credits for Happy Feet and The Good Dinosaur.

He has also recently launched a very cool business enterprise. Paperclip Life have designed and produced diaper bags that aren’t the typical flowery sort you usually get. Much cooler for all those dads out there!

(Editors note: You might wonder why AJ gets more of a bio than the rest of the team…It’s AJ, I don’t need any more reason than that!)

Clay Spenser.

Clay Spenser is still in early days training for the team which means we see him going through what trainees do.  He has interaction as a Strap or an attachment to the team when they needed a language specialist.  His biggest downfall is his ego, his desire to be the best. This rubs his fellow trainees the wrong way.  Coincidentally he is trying to get away from his father’s shadow since the elder Spenser produced a book telling more than it should have about life as a SEAL.

Clay is played by Max Thieriot who has been in film and television since he was around 15 years old.  Most recently he can be seen in Bates Motel as Dylan Massett as well as Jack Hays in Texas Rising.  He has acted along side Jennifer Lawrence in House at the End of the Street and also played Liam Neeson and Julianne Moores son in Chloe.

It’s also Max’s birthday today, he turns 29 so we wanna wish Max a very happy birthday!

Cerberus

Cerberus is the unit’s specially trained canine attachment.  If there is a mission, and tracking or detection is needed, Cerberus is your friend.  No mission is too much when you see her rappel from a helicopter or parachuting down to the area.  The main thing I love about Cerberus is the fact you can also have her camera angle of the mission they are on.

Cerberus is played by Dita The Hair Missile who does have her own IMDB page and Instagram account!  Dita is a Belgian Malinois who is trained in detection and tracking making her fit in so well.  From photos and from the show so far she looks loved and happy.

CBS orders full season pick up

With the news announced a couple of days ago that a full run has now been ordered.  We can see this show is loved by those who have seen it and the network is behind it.  With only 3 episodes aired so far and some excellent story lines shown we have a lot ahead of us to explore with our SEAL Team.

SEAL Team airs on Wednesdays on CBS.  If you haven’t watched so far tune in and see if its the new show for you.  The first 3 episodes are still available on CBS.com to watch in full.  Oh and look out for the amazing Daniel Gillies in the first couple of episodes and how he looks as SEAL Team member from the past.
