Idris Elba to Star in new Netflix series Turn Up Charlie
Where are our Idris Elba fans?! Netflix has ordered a new comedy sereis starring our dear Idris Elba. It will be called Turn Up Charlie.
The series follows the Charlie (Idris Elba), a struggling DJ and eternal bachelor, who’s given a final chance at success when he reluctantly becomes a manny to his famous best friend’s problem-child daughter.
Netflix has ordered eight episodes for the first season – one episode will be 30 minutes long.
Idris himself will be Co-Creater and Gary Reich will be the Producer.
Production will begin this May in the U.K. (go get the filming locations ready my dear U.K. fans 🙂
Idris Elba’s way so far
Turn Up Charlie will be the second comedy series Elba has created and stars in. He currently stars on the Sky One series In the Long Run, playing a Sierra Leonean immigrant living with his family in London, 1985.
Elba’s best known TV role was in the HBO hit series The Wire. He also appeared in the Thor franchise and other Marvel movies like Pacific Rim, Star Trek: Beyond and Beasts of No Nation.
He is repped by WME in the U.S. and The Artists Partnership in the U.K.
Idris Elba being a man with LOTS of talents and I have to say – I’m pretty excited to see him on this new show.
