Halle Berry’s Extant will undergo a cast overhaul heading into its second season.
The sci-fi drama will introduce a largely new supporting cast as the series heads in a different direction, Deadline reports.
Berry will continue to lead the cast as astronaut Molly Woods, who became pregnant during a space mission. The second season will focus on her search for her dangerous alien son, played by the returning Pierce Gagnon.
Grace Gummer will reprise her role in the series, and Goran Visnjic and Camryn Manheim will appear in the first few episodes of the new season.
Hiroyuki Sanada and Michael O’Neill will not return to the show, and will be replaced by two new series regulars.
Earlier this year, show creator Mickey Fisher said that he was inspired by the “great heart” in British sci-fi drama Doctor Who.
