Fargo – Season 5 Episode 5 Review

Fargo – “The Tiger” aired Tuesday, December 12th on FX. “The Tiger” is the 5th episode of the 5th season. Season 5 is about various chronicles of deception, intrigue, and murder in and around frozen Minnesota. All of these tales mysteriously lead back one way or another to Fargo, North Dakota.

In “The Tiger”, Dot (Juno Temple) creates diversions; Roy (Jon Hamm) meets his match; and Indira (Richa Moorjani) helps a new friend. Below is our review of season 5 episode 5 of Fargo.

Overall Thoughts – “The Tiger”

Amy- The fact that Lorraine (Jennifer Jason Leigh) tried to get Dot committed is a hilarious thought to me like she has to have some idea how Dot is now at this point. Imagine my reaction to Roy and Lorraine meeting. With Roy telling her everything! Props to Lorraine for not just giving in and handing Dot over to Roy. Gotta admit, I kinda thought she would. I don’t like that Roy met Scotty (Sienna King), I have a bad feeling about that.

I don’t want to read too much into it, but the whole scene with Gator (Joe Keery) and Dot in the hospital. They give off a strong sense of parental connection. Gator even referred to her as “mama” last week. Did not expect Dot to show up at Indira’s house. I am so glad that Dot finally told someone just a piece of her past. Can’t wait for next week’s episode!

Clare- This was an interesting episode. The Tiger voiceover reminded me of a YouTuber, ZeFrank, who does hilarious “True facts about animals”. This had those stunningly blackly comic moments I’ve come to know and love from Fargo, especially Dot’s warning to the two orderlies when they come for her, and when she suffocated the annoying guy in the hospital while berating him.

I was surprised that Lorraine stood up to Roy and refused to hand Dot over. You’d have thought she’d want to be rid of her, so she could have her son and granddaughter to herself, but apparently not.

I agree, the relationship between Dot and Gator is interesting. I picked up on the “mama” last week, and this week when he let her go – there’s a lot more going on there than we have seen. I’m hoping he sees sense and helps her out. I’m glad Dot went to Indira for help. I sort of hope Lorraine finds out Indira is looking after Scotty, maybe protecting her from something, and Lorraine cancels Indira’s debt as a thank you.

Hi, I'm Amy. I was born into the fandom life and was taught all its magical ways. When I am not working, playing video games, attending conventions (where I dabble in cosplay); I am binge watching anything and everything. Though I do have to admit I am more inclined to sci-fi and supernatural genre; though I have a soft spot for historical dramas.

Hey, I'm Clare, aka Ciara or C. My current fandoms are RWBY and The Last Kingdom along with a bunch of other stuff I tend to let build up and then binge! I'm a keen, albeit amateur, cosplayer and love attending cons in various cosplays. I'm also the resident comic book girl around these parts, especially small press comics, so if you've got an indie book you want reviewed, I'm your gal! When I'm not doing the fangirl thing I am a keen long-distance hiker, having completed Te Araroa in New Zealand and The Pacific Crest Trail on the West Coast of the US.
