Not only is Ed Sheeran celebrating a fourth consecutive week at Number One on the UK’s Official Albums Chart this week, he’s the only artist to do so this year.
Singer-songwriter Sheeran’s second studio album X became the fastest selling of 2014 so far up on its release last month, with more than 182,000 copies sold during its first week on sale.
Now, according to the Official Charts Company X – which has sold over 367,000 copies in the UK to-date – has today become the longest running Number One of the year, overtaking Paolo Nutini’s Caustic Love, which held strong for three weeks back in April.
Meanwhile, ex-Smith’s singer Morrissey’s tenth studio album, World Peace Is None Of Your Business, is a new entry at Number Two.
