I felt bad for automatically assuming I'd hate this game, especially after I'd played a bit of it. It genuinely is an absolute delight, just try not to get too lost in the world of Dreams!

Dreams Video Game Review – A glorious step into a world you create

Dreams is wonderful, absolutely wonderful!

Not only is it a game that you can pretty much do anything with, it’s a game you can be anything in. It’s a game within a game with you as the creator.

Dreams’ developers Media Molecule were also the developers behind Little Big Planet and Tearaway. The former being a runaway success and the latter being one of my favourite PS Vita games of all time. So to say that my expectations were high is an understatement. Thankfully however, I was not disappointed.

Summary

Dreams, is, in essence a game that you can create games in. You can make your own games right of the bat or get involved and play one of the thousands that other’s have created using the game’s maker.

These aren’t cheap looking badly made games either. They’re seriously fun, 3D adventures. If that’s what you want to make. Honestly, the world really is your oyster. You can make what you want and have it play out however you like.

The ability to look at others games using the games’ website on your browser means you can always check out the latest or newest trending game that someone has made.

Review

I’m going to keep this simple because there’s no need to mince words here. Dreams is simply wonderful! I honestly didn’t think I’d like it, with creative type games not being my favourite thing in the world but I could get lost in this one for hours!

The characters are cute and quirky (you get a little imp that represents your dreams and it’s the cutest thing!) It’s works seamlessly with Playstation Move and Camera. But if you want to just use the basic DS4 controller, you can. It also works seamlessly on PS4 share so you can play and create pretty much anywhere.

It doesn’t force you to do anything a certain way (within reason of course) and I think that’s it’s charm and why it should and will appeal to a ton of gamers. It’s freedom personified, it gives you the basics and then just says “OK now go wild!”

There are a few I can see maybe having an issue with this game but that’ll be down to taste alone. As I said, these kinds of games really aren’t my thing but I’m loving it at the moment!

I feel like this game is going to be a contender for game of the year. Whether it will win or not is another story but I think it’ll definitely be up there as a nominee, and a worthy one at that.
