Coming Home In The Dark

Coming Home In The Dark Synopsis

The story was written by Eli Kent and James Ashcroft, and produced by Mike Minogue, Catherine Fitzgerald and Desray Armstrong. It’s James Ashcroft’s first feature film.

It all started with a family winding down a desolate road through an endless valley. After some time Alan “Hoaggie” (Erik Thomson) and Jill (Miriama McDowell) stopped their car to take their teenage boys on a hike through the New Zealand wilderness. While they’re taking a break at a clearing overlooking the water, two ominous-looking drifters appear out of nowhere. They silently surround the peaceful clan and radiating a threat of imminent danger. Soon, they find themselves captured by the psychopath Mandrake (Daniel Gillies) and his accomplice Tubs (Matthias Luafutu).

At first the family’s terror seems to be born of a random encounter with two sociopaths. But as the night drags on, Hoaggie and Jill realize that this nightmare has been set in motion 20 years earlier. As they approach their mysterious final destination Mandrake reveals a horrible secret.

Contains extreme violence and gore.
