Combatants Will Be Dispatched “Combatants Will Be Dispatched” Review

Combatants Will Be Dispatched “Combatants Will Be Dispatched” is the sixth episode of the Combatants anime. Following on from episode 5 this episode shoes Agent 6’s decisions and actions to help in the war.

Without Agent 6

Snow, Rose and Grimm are doing their best to keep control of the mass amounts of goblins and golems coming through the gates. Whilst Heine makes it pretty obvious that she’s only interested in Agent 6 and getting revenge on him. They fight back and do pretty well but it’s clear they’re in way over their heads.

Meanwhile, Agent 6 and Alice are trying to kidnap the Princess so they can make a run for it. Not wanting to fight. But they bump into Snow at the bottom of the stairs and she pleads with them to stay and fight, she knows they’ll lose without them both. After a hell of alot of pleading it gets through to Agent 6 and he asks Alice to get the long range shotgun (it’s like a sniper rifle but a million times better.) Agent 6 doesn’t have enough evil points though so he has to do something unforgivable in order to get them. Snow says to fondle her or kiss her in order to even though she doesn’t understand but Agent 6 realises that it’d be consensual so not considered an evil act.

He decides to rip down her underwear without her permission instead. Which does earn him the points. He gets the gun and starts taking out the golems and bigger enemies.

Going wild

Soon they all descend on the small room Agent 6, Alice, Snow and the Princess are in. Knowing he’ll need a short range weapon for this task he asks Alice for his Buzzsaw. It’s super powerful in it’s own but Agent 6 then releases the lock on his uniform. Going absolutely mad with this buzzsaw he clears the room of enemies whilst also destroying the room and killing Snow in the process.

He’s heralded a hero, naturally, but he doesn’t want to join up with the army anymore as he’d have to deal with Snow and the dodgy military guy. So he decides to become a mercenary. At Snow’s suggestion.

This turns out to be a good idea as Alice points out that he’s minus points. Returning to Japan with a negative number would definitely get him killed by the corporation so he decides to strip his comrades naked.

Review

This is hard to describe how I feel about this episode. Maybe it’s because the comedy is becoming predictable. Or because the plot was, it definitely felt weak. It had a solid story. And direction but it all felt a little lifeless. The energy that was shown on the characters just didn’t seem to carry over into the overarching plot of the episode. It was still good. As this show is. But this is definitely one of it’s weaker episodes.

I’m not discouraged though as Agent 6 and Alice are on a new journey now so I’m confident it’ll pick up.
