Avengers: Endgame Roundtable Discussion

THIS DISCUSSION WILL INCLUDE SPOILERS!
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

It’s been a week, and several of the crew here at FANdemonium Towers have seen Avengers: Endgame so we decided to sit down and discuss some of the most memorable moments.

DO NOT READ PAST THIS POINT IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN Avengers: Endgame OR DO NOT WISH TO BE SPOILED!

Meet the team, and their favourite Avengers!

First up is Clare, eternal Tony Stark/Iron-Man fan who took her Iron Man build-a-bear to the movie with her. Jenn’s favourite member of the original six Avengers is the man behind (or is that in front of?) America’s Ass himself, Steve Rogers. Purple’s fave is Hulk/Bruce Banner. Wonder if that has anything to do with his penchant for a certain colour of shirt? Sabrina has a soft spot for family man Clint Barton aka Hawkeye.

Okay, so let’s kick things off with everyone’s favourite overall moment of the movie.

Clare: Tony (Robert Downey Jr.) figuring out the time travel thing after everyone else basically said it wasn’t possible. It reminded me of IM2 when he figures out the new element.

Jenn: Picking one fave moment would be like picking your fave kid, right? I have to say see Thor (Chris Hemsworth) as ” The Dude” was EVERYTHING, I couldn’t stop laughing. I am sure most men felt pretty good seeing him all chunky.

Purple:  This is a tough to pick cause there was so many great parts. But one of my favorites which happens to be one of the funnier parts is when Captain America (Chris Evans) just finished fighting himself and he looks at his own ass and says, “that really is America’s ass” Just so damn funny. Also I just love love love HulkBanner (Mark Ruffalo). He was just the best. Love the Hulk in glasses….oddly sexy to me

Sabrina: Damn that’s a hard one. Favorite moment.. definitely the battle where everyone came back. Also Thor being all drunk and fat made the whole movie so much funnier for me! But one of my most favorite scenes was Captain America having the best life with his wife and enjoying it to the fullest until the end! That broke my heart!

And least favourite?

Clare: “I am Iron Man.” Tony’s sacrifice, while beautiful and fitting still broke my heart.

Jenn: I am going to have to co-sign that. My heart broke. It’s still broken.

Purple: I would have to agree with these ladies, Iron Man has never been my favorite but having to see him go out that way…….just heart breaking.

Sabrina: Iron Man sacrificing himself for sure. I cried a river when this scene happened!

Biggest gripe about Avengers: Endgame?

Clare: Uhhh, this might be an unpopular opinion but the “Females Assemble” moment with literally every woman in the MCU all turning up in the same spot I thought was cringeworthy.

Jenn: it being over…

Purple: Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) was this biggest disappointment to me.  I know she isn’t part of the OG Avengers but Marvel built her up in such a way that I thought she would have had a bigger part in this movie. Her part was small but mighty I just expected more. Half of the trailers of her coming to the Avengers WASN’T even in the movie.  Did you guys catch that?

Sabrina: First thing like Jenn said, that it is over. Second thing I have to agree with Purple on that – Captain Marvel was a HUGE disappointment. She was barely even in the movie. I did expect more!

Did you cry? If so what was it that set you off?

Clare: I cried buckets. First thing that set me off was the very start with Clint (Jeremy Renner) losing his family to the snap. That was devastating. Then it was Tony almost dying in space. Realizing Tony was a dad. Nat’s sacrifice for the Soul Stone hurt SO much. Most of the last… I dunno… hour… Yeah, I cried a lot!

Jenn: I cried, I laughed, I cringed, I cried AGAIN… Where to begin with the crying? OK, well Tony being a dad, was a happy cry moment. Clint losing his family gutted me. Watching Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) sacrifice herself for the greater good. Umm knowing Gamora (Zoe Saldana) is gone, again, or err still, killed me, all over again.

Purple:  A girl does not cry……..except when Spider-man (Tom Holland) says “Mr. Stark” there is just something about the way his voice breaks that just breaks my heart and tears begin to fall. But yeah I didn’t cry

Sabrina: I had a bunch of emotions during the whole movie but what made me cry was definitely Iron Man dying. And the funeral at the end where everyone came together, like literally EVERYONE! I couldn’t stop the tears there anymore.

Confusing or things that make you go hmmm moment of Avengers: Endgame?

Jenn: I love that Captain America got his dance and happy ending, but really? I mean Cap is a martyr. He wouldn’t have given up his shield and lived knowing how much of history he effects. I mean he lived and aged and so does that mean he was never the captain? Did he mess up the timeline? So confused..

Thor.. he is now part of the Guardians? Will we see him in Guardians part 3? Will he back in Thor shape by then?

See more questions..

Clare: The rat running across the dashboard of Ant-Man (Paul Rudd)’s van… seriously THAT was the 1 in 14,000,000 chance that was needed to bring Scott back and set the entire thing in motion?

Purple:  Like all Marvel movies this left me wanting more. Like Jenn said “more questions”. like Captain America left with the hammer but didn’t come back with it. Where is it? Was he in Asgard when Fat Thor was there and the reason it took so long for the hammer to come back to him was because Cap had to send it back?? And where is Loki? He disappeared, so does that mean he is alive? They have a time machine now, so none of the Avengers are really dead? I could go on and on with thoughts and stuff. It was a great ending to an epic saga of movies.

Sabrina: All the time jumping left me a little confused to be honest. It was fun and interesting but still confusing for me. Captain America living a “normal” life with his wife is all good and sweet but as Jenn said.. he wouldn’t do that! He wouldn’t leave the world hanging and just living his life. I’m still really sad that Loki didn’t come back tho. I would’ve loved to see him and Thor interact together. Thor being part of the Guardians now could be really interesting if we think about the upcoming Guardians 3 movie. Really curious what they will bring out of that opinion!

Clare: I get what you guys are saying but I think the rules that they established for time travel meant that Cap didn’t abandon the world just to live with Peggy. He knew that the Steve that was still in the ice at the time he went back would eventually be found, thawed out and become the Avenger Cap of that timeline.
