Attack On Titan Episode 69 Review
Attack On Titan 69 is here and we finally have answers that have unfortunately lead to a whole load of other questions.
With episode 68 being more a filler episode to keep us up to date with what happened between the attack and before. Attack On Titan 69 gives us a pretty good look at the planning that’s been going on behind the scenes. Opening up new storylines. And getting us even more confused about why Eren did what he did.
Overview
The begging of the episode immediately shows us what we’re dealing with here. Eren doesn’t look like himself and he certainly isn’t acting like himself. Something that Hanji brings up to him. He even goes so far as to threaten her with a pretty well thought out threat, it’s totally plausible he could bust out of his cell at any time.
It’s then that the episode cuts back to two years ago when the group meet with the Asian clan that Mikasa is a descendent of. The show goes into a ton more detail than the manga did but I’m not sure why, we’ll just have to see how it pans out.
That’s pretty much the only major change. Even Levi complaining about the squad getting taller for laughs is in there.
Make no mistake, this definitely feels like a “calm before the storm” episode though…
Review
I gotta say this episode definitely sets up how Attack On Titan is gonna be for a while. All the politics and people playing Game of Thrones. It’s almost unrecognisable but I love it.
The characters are deep and interesting. There are some you can tell are up to something shady but just don’t know what. I as a viewer was constantly questioning who was going to become a backstabber and who wasn’t, with the characters constantly changing their views on things it’s hard to know if it’s legitimate or part of some grand plan.
I would say this episode got me more hooked than the last despite them both being kinda filler. This one has more silent tension and I love that.
The drama is ramping up, the pieces are in play but who will make it out alive?
