9-1-1 – FOMO Review/Recap

9-1-1 – FOMO – is episode 15 of season 5. FOMO aired Monday, April 25th. FOMO is the fear of missing out. This episode does make you feel all warm and fuzzy at the end.

The episode starts off with an influencer showing off her new house live to all her followers, as she was showing off her sauna the house shook causing her to fall. Dozens of calls are flooding into the dispatch center but with no one knowing the address, May (Corinne Massiah) wasn’t sure what to do. After Eddie (Ryan Guzman) tweeted out a photo asking if anyone knew what her address was; one person replied back with positive claims that they are the influencer’s mother.

After talking to the parents of the influencer Athena (Angela Bassett) discovers that the name the influencer was going by wasn’t her name. Giving the 118 the description of the girl’s vehicle, the 118 discovered the car at a for sale house; finding the girl in the sauna passed out with third-degree burns on her face and suffering from a concussion.

Missing Milestones

As Maddie (Jennifer Love Hewitt) was dropping baby Jee off at Chimney’s (Kenneth Choi) she discovered a memory box that Chimney was making of all of Jee-Yuns milestones or keepsakes. As Maddie looked through it, she realizes that she has missed so much of baby Jee’s life already. Later as she was telling Buck (Oliver Stark); Buck tells her that baby Jee isn’t the first kid she raised that she also raised him.

I Do?

Our next 911 call comes from a wedding; the groom collapses before vows can be exchanged. When the team arrives at the scene and finds out that it’s a speed wedding, two people who have never met get married. All of the groom’s organs are on the hospital side of his body, he is 1 out of 100,000 people this happens to. Hen (Aisha Hinds) drains the blood that is filling up around his heart as he starts to code. Luckily, he returns back to normal and the team takes him to the hospital.

Missing Something

Hen and her wife Karen (Tracie Thoms) went on a date to a fancy below zero restaurant; when Karen’s purse was stolen out of their car. Karen tells Hen that she is feeling old, how all her coworkers are a decade or two younger than her, and that they are always doing something. That she can’t help but wonder what she missed out on.

Rocky Ground

The next 911 call comes from 3 young girls whose mother has fallen through the ground from an old Cold War shallow. Hen and Chimney descend down the hole; while Lucy (Arielle Kebbel) unlocks and makes their way through a locked gate. As Hen and Chimney assess the situation, it’s not looking good for our victim as she has sustained serious injuries. The victim doesn’t believe that she will make it out and requests to talk to her kids one last time so their memory isn’t of her screaming. As soon as the mother is finished speaking, she passes away; the team makes the victim look like she is sleeping so the kids are not aware of her passing.

Capturing the Moments

As the episode comes to an end we are brought back to Hen and Karen; Hens comes home to discover Karen ready for bed and on the brink of passing out after making 87 cupcakes for a band bake sale when Hen’s phone goes off with a fraud alert. Someone was attempting to steal her card at a nightclub; Karen leaped out of bed with the urge to capture the thief. The ladies find the thief and get a confession out of her as well just as the police show up. Since the tab was never closed the two decided to stay in the club a little longer.

Maddie is attempting to feed baby Jee, who is going through the picky eater stage. As Maddie was complaining to Chimney about how it was just last week she loved oatmeal and was just going to make her fist sticks; baby Jee does something new with the spoon. Maddie finally witnesses something new about Jee-Yun. Athena is going through her keepsake box from her college days when Bobby (Peter Krause) asks her about any regrets; Athena replies back ‘no regrets, I know that I’m where I’m meant to be’.
