The episode picks up immediately at the dispatch center; May (Corinne Massiah) gets a call from a man saying he was carjacked, shot, and buried alive. May sends out the 118 and multiple units to help find this man buried somewhere in the woods. Bobby figures with the size of an average male that our victim has about 10 minutes.

While May was on the phone with the victim, she is urging the 118 to find the guy as he is running out of time. Suggesting giving the team a sustained sound to listen for, then asking the victim to yell as loud as he can. Using this method, Buck (Oliver Stark) and the others were able to find and extract our victim.

Harry’s Nightmares

Harry (Marcanthonee Reis) is still feeling the effects of his kidnapping. Don’t blame the kid though, he went through some serious trauma. Curious about Jeffery Hudson (Noah Bean), Harry has been looking into Jeffery and web searching him. Harry admits to his therapist that he sees Jeffery, but not when he’s asleep but while he is awake.

Mystery Case

Detective Lou (Sasha Roiz) is asking our buried alive victim, Edgar (Philip Anthony-Rodriguez) the standard questions one would get in this scenario. The problem is Edgar cannot seem to remember anything about what happened or what the person looked like. News reporter Taylor Kelly (Megan West) comes in to give him some gifts, Edgar is a big fan of Taylor. Taylor started asking about Edgar’s wife, Lizzie (Nicole Paggi), and wanted to talk to her; Edgar gave some weird answers about where his wife was and why she couldn’t be reached. All of which, Taylor notices.

Chimney!

This is the first time we’ve seen Chimney (Kenneth Choi) since his departure in episode 4. Chimney is on the phone with Hen (Aisha Hinds), explaining to her where he is on his search for Maddie (Jennifer Love Hewitt), although Buck did give Chimney a heads up that she could be in Boston at the Old North Church. Buck believes she is there because he heard church bells on a voicemail Maddie left for Buck. Though Hen points out there is a replica of the same church in Burbank. Chimney informs Hen that Maddie’s happiest memories are in Boston.

Confronting Ghosts

May wants to talk about what happened to Harry, while everyone else wants to move on from what happened. Comparing what happed to Harry to the guy who was buried alive; as both were technically buried. May wants the family to talk to each other about it as they all went through it in their own ways. May points out to her father, Michael (Rockmond Dunbar) that neither he nor Harry have been back to the house since the kidnapping.

Hen is confronting her own ghosts from her past, her ex Eva (Abby Brammell), has announced that she is moving out of California. Hen figured out that she is one of Eva’s steps in coming clean and fixing the mistakes of her past and hopes that Hen could forgive Eva eventually. After shift Hen tells her wife, Karen (Tracie Thoms) about Eva’s visit. Karen is on guard with anything involving Eva; the three have a horrible and rocky past; all Hen kept saying is that Eva sounded sincere in her apology. Which immediately Karen replies that this is why she cannot trust Hen with Eva.

Edgar Hill

Taylor has her own separate investigation going on in her shared apartment with Buck, trying to figure out the mystery of Edgar Hill. While at the police station Detective Lou is trying to figure out the details with Athena (Angela Bassett). Both have found out that Edgar lied about his wife Lizzie’s whereabouts and that they are currently unknown. Edgar’s wife doesn’t have any friends, and it is suspected that she is having an affair. Furthermore, it seems odd that he has three life insurance policies on her. The couple is having serious financial issues and the marriage is in trouble. All the money is tied and worth millions. The theory is that it was a hit. Taylor believes the wife did it and Lou believes it was the husband.

Doing their own separate police work, it both sides to a motel. Detective Lou is looking for Tom Gladden (David DeLuise), the man who Lou believes is the hitman. While Taylor is there because she believes Lizzie is there. Lou is confused as he thinks that Lizzie is dead and that Edgar hired the hitman to kill Lizzie. As police open the door, Lizzie and Tom are brought out in handcuffs; which Taylor informs Lou that it was Lizzie who hired the hitman to kill Edgar. Edgar was on the scene with a gun. This just got a lot more confusing.

The Case of Edgar and Lizzie Hill

All three suspects are brought into custody for questioning. Tom confirms that Edgar hired him to kill his wife Lizzie, but the moment he saw Lizzie, and started to ‘feel things’ for Lizzie. Tom warns Lizzie about the hit; Lizzie then turned the tables and wanted Tom to kill Edgar. When Tom told Edgar he wanted the money upfront, Edgar gave Tom his car, so technically he did get carjacked. Two days later Tom called Edgar and told him the job was done. Tom had Edgar come to the site where the grave was, but it was empty, that’s when he shot Edgar and buried him alive.

Back in Boston

When Chimney first arrived in Boston, he had bumped into an old friend, Eli Cobb (Mac Brandt), while Eli was on a call. The pair have met up and are having drinks together. Eli comforts Chimney by telling him that this wasn’t Chimney’s fault but is not helping the voice that Maddie has in her head when she does eventually see him looking like a man on a month-long bender. That it will be a cycle of blaming each other. Eli suggests that Chimney takes a breath and to himself together.

Haunted By Ghosts

Harry continues to be haunted by his kidnapping, seeing Jeffery everywhere. It’s so bad that he gets on a bus by himself and goes to the house where Jeffery placed him in the stairwell. Images keep flashing to his abduction as Harry is living in his nightmare. As he’s in the house where Jeffery took him, he falls through the flooring and injuries himself, calling out to his mom. Rescuing him, Athena tells him that he will always come first.

As a result, Harry’s arm is not broken but just dislocated. As Lou is checking on Harry, Harry asks him if he sees Jeffery. Lou tells him he sees him every time he closes his eyes, that he feels like he is just there at times. Harry admits he wishes he could forget about him and move on as everyone wants him to; Lou tells him that you never really move on, only that you move on and move forward. At the end of the episode, Harry tells Athena that he wants to go home, as in the house. Seeing his family, he suggests a cookout and he can tell them everything that happened.
