Walker : Mehar’s Jacket Round Table Review

A new episode of Walker ,called “Mehar’s Jacket”, has arrived and this one is a bit less dramatic than the last one. However, are you guys ready for another roller coaster ride? Joining me (Rike) on this round table review is Kassi. Let’s do this!

Walker: Mehar’s Jacket Synopsis

Walker (Jared Padalecki) takes Stella (Violet Brinson) and August (Kale Culley) on a road trip to discuss some devastating news. Captain James (Coby Bell) enlists the help of Micki (Lindsey Morgan) and Trey (Jeff Pierre) to find a missing military veteran.

Your opinion about this episode in general?

R: I think we truly needed a “calm” and not so dramatic episode after everything going on lately. Calm in a very good way. Truly enjoyed watching this little road trip. Especially the alpaca. Genius! Also Micki being full on badass and strong in this episode. I am all here for it.

K: I think it was a good farewell episode to Hoyt (Matt Barr). There were a lot of moments that made this episode so special. I absolutely loved the fact that they’ve found different ways to keep Hoyt’s memory alive – seeing that actually made me tear up a few times. Another thing I loved about this episode was seeing Micki and Trey work together. It was so cute and refreshing to see how proud Trey was of Micki during her fight scene. Seeing them work together was honestly something I didn’t know I needed until I had it.

Everyone is rocked by Hoyt’s sudden death, and that has everyone rethinking their priorities and reevaluating their relationships. They’re coping with the situation in different ways. Do you think it’ll be too much one day?

K: It depends. In Cordell’s case absolutely. I don’t think that he even had a chance to deal with the fact that his best friend is dead yet because he was so busy making sure that his kids are okay. Unfortunately I think that this decision of putting everyone’s needs above his own will come back to bite him in the ass when he least expects it. Furthermore, I also think that one day it’s going to be too much for August and Stella. In regards to the others, I truly think that they’ve found or will find healthier ways of dealing with everything that has happened.

R: It might be too much for certain people one day. Definitely! Death is and never will be easy to handle. Some people may need some more time than others to cope with everything and find some time to actually grieve. Walker might be the one breaking at some point. There’s only so much hurt a man can take. At some point it’s gonna be too much. Same with Stella, August and maybe even Geri (Odette Annable). Tough times for sure, but at least they’ve got each other after all. This will never change.

Walker makes the decision to bow out for a while and we can see Micki working in the background. It’s not an abandonment of her partner and friend, but it might feel like one to someone who’s had some experience with abandonment like Micki has. Your thoughts on this scene?

R:I can understand why she acted the way she did in the first place. After everything that happened to her it’s like another gut punch. Glad they were able to figure it out in the end with a great conversation. Don’t like seeing their friendship being put on hold because of this. It’s too damn precious. They’re literally the best working duo with perfect chemistry.

K: I absolutely get why Micki felt like that because as soon as she let Cordell in and developed a true friendship with him, he resigned. Obviously he only did that because he had to deal with everything that has happened so far but feelings don’t always have to make sense. I loved that she felt comfortable enough to talk to Cordell about those feelings though because I feel like this was something she needed to do in order to move past this.

Cordell and Geri have now lost two people who were intensely important to them, and it both bonds them and comes between them. Do you think they’ll ever figure it out?

K: Yes I do but it’s going to take time. Hoyt’s death is still fresh on both of their minds and they still feel guilty about the fact that Hoyt died as a result of their kiss – so figuring anything out will take a lot of time.

R: Another tough situation which will take some time like Kassi already mentioned. It’s not like you can just simply flip the switch. Definitely not that easy and it needs the two of them being honest with each other to maybe figure it all out one day.

Stella leaves a message for Trevor (Gavin Casalegno), saying she’s sorry too but she doesn’t think she can visit. Is their story going to end now?

R: Damn! I wish this would be the end of their relationship whether it’s romantically or not. What Trevor did is unacceptable, but I guess little Stella would forgive him every little thing. I wouldn’t be surprised if they end up back together before the season finale. This is the storyline which pisses me off the most. Facepalm all the way.

K: I really hope so but realistically I don’t think it is. I mean, she even went ahead and apologized to him on the phone even though he is the one that was at fault here, so unfortunately I really don’t think that we’ve seen the last of him.

Your thoughts on Micki getting in the ring and showing off her fighting skills? Badass or completely badass?

K: Completely badass! I truly loved everything about this scene – I really hope that we’ll get to see more of Micki being a total badass.

R: Badass! There’s no other correct answer for this one. Micki showed her true face and I can’t deny that I’m all here for it.

Your score:

K: 8/10

R: 8 – the alpaca is a very big reason for this one.
