Walker : Four Stones in Hand Round Table Review

A new episode of Walker ,called “Four Stones in Hand”, has arrived and this time the focus lies on Micki (Lindsey Morgan) and Mercedes (Leticia Jimenez). Are you guys ready for another roller coaster ride? Joining me (Rike) on this round table review is Kassi. Let’s do this!

Walker: Four Stones in Hand Synopsis

Micki’s real mother, Mercedes, tries to make amends with but Micki doesn’t want anything to do with her. Walker (Jared Padalecki) steps in to help and lands in a heap of trouble. Meanwhile, August (Kale Culley) suffers from PTSD after what happened at the Ranch.

Your opinion about this episode in general?

K: I loved that this was a Micki-centric episode! We saw a lot of her coming to terms with the fact that Mercedes actually cares about having a relationship with her. I think that that’s something that needed to happen so that Micki can finally start to sort through her emotions and feelings. Also loved Micki teaming up with our new “civilian” Cordell. I feel like their dynamic is so special because they aren’t just partners. They are friends who can count on each other above anything else.

R: Completely agree with what Kassi said. Loved the fact they were focusing on Micki for this one. Happy to see that things are changing for the better. Micki and Mercedes deserve that. Also the fact that we got to see a bit more of August and Stella (Violet Brinson) dealing with everything that happened lately. Some outstanding performances for sure. Thinking about the Rubik’s Cube still makes me smile now. Sometimes it’s all about the little things.

August seems to enjoy the attention while Stella doesn’t wanna talk about anything that happened at all. Do you think this is the way he’s trying to deal with the trauma? Is this going to be enough?

R: I’m actually glad he had this talk with Stella where they both called each other out and finally understood what’s going on. August seemed to be more true to himself afterwards. However, I do understand why he acted the way he did in the beginning. Might be some sort of overreacting behavior for someone, but in the end he didn’t actually enjoy the attention like Kassi already said. Going back to the question, this isn’t enough. Trying to hide what happened deep down is never going to work out. Sorrow, anxiety, confusion – it all arises one day.

K: I don’t think he truly enjoyed the attention. I think he just chose that over people treating him like he’s made out of glass. And I mean who could blame him – people his age love to gossip or to spread false information. But yeah I think this is the only way he even knows how to deal with his trauma. I really don’t think ignoring the problem until it (might) go away is the right approach here. He really shouldn’t try to push everything down because that will only result in him exploding one day. What he needs is therapy.

Bonham (Mitch Pileggi) and Abeline (Molly Hagan) gonna renew their vows. A lot of cute scenes this episode. Your thoughts?

K: I absolutely loved it! I feel like each episode we learn more about their relationship and I really appreciate that. My heart literally broke when Bonham told Abeline that he wanted to refuse treatment because he didn’t want to put that kind of thing on her. Her response with “giving up on you would be the death of me” made this scene so special and showed us that they still love each other more than anything. So yeah, I think them renewing their vows is a great idea!

R: They both are really adorable and always have each other’s back even if it doesn’t look like it sometimes. Renewing their vows and this whole scene in general made me tear up a bit. Yes, I’m an emotional person. Gotta admit that. Onto the next chapter now. Bonham you got this. Let’s fight together.

Cordell is trying to not get involved anymore, but it’s not really working out though. Do you think he’ll get back doing his job, or will he continue trying to stay out of it once and for all?

R: As if Walker would actually be able to stay out of anything. This is not gonna happen. Never. Being a ranger is his life and he truly needs it back. You can see that with the way he’s been acting lately. It’s kinda an unhealthy relationship now that he’s a civilian illegally working as a ranger. He needs to get back as soon as possible. Micki needs him back there. This perfect work duo needs to reunite and it’s gonna happen, trust me.

K: To be honest, I don’t think Cordell even knows how to stay out of anything anymore. I mean this episode made clear that Cordell doesn’t even know how to act like a civilian anymore and that he will always think in a Texas Ranger way. So yeah I really think it’s not a question of if he’ll return to his job but a question of when he’ll return.

Micki arrests the scammer for messing with Mercedes. Do you think they’re able to strengthen their bond and actually call each other family one day?

K: One day absolutely! I think Micki took an important first step towards getting there, when she gave Mercedes her real address. What we have to remember though is that this is a really unique situation – finding out that your birth mom practically sold you is not something you’ll get over just because you had a good day together. It will be a long process and will take a lot of work from both sides.

R: I think this whole episode showed us that they’re on the right track. This isn’t something you can figure out within days. It takes time. But I’m sure they’ll get there together and maybe one day they’ll be able to call each other family. If not they are at least coming to terms with their past together.
