Walker : Encore Round Table Review

A new episode of Walker, called “Encore”, has arrived. Trevor (Gavin Casalegno) and Clint West (Austin Nichols) are back. Drama incoming. Are you ready for another roller coaster ride? Joining me (Rike) on this round table review is Kassi. Let’s do this!

Walker: Encore Synopsis

With the Sidestep now in their name, Walker (Jared Padalecki), Stella (Violet Brinson) and August (Kale Culley) put their stamp on the place. Stella confronts Clint about Trevor and his response prompts Stella to make a dangerous decision.

Your opinion about this episode in general?

K: Honestly I loved so many things about this episode. For example, Cordell acting like a total fanboy, the Micki (Lindsey Morgan)-Cordell dynamic, seeing the whole family + Tricki working together while also having fun or the hidden Supernatural references like for example the crossroads deal. But I do have to agree with Rike – I was also really annoyed by the way Stella was acting in this episode.

R: Overall it was a good episode, but I didn’t enjoy watching Stella throwing herself into more drama again and again. I really hope that she’ll tell Walker the news rather sooner than later. A big plus point was seeing Walker being a fanboy in some scenes. This made me chuckle, gotta admit that.

Micki was worried that Trey (Jeff Pierre) went back to work too soon. Do you think that has anything to do with his former work in the army? Do you think admitting to Micki that he isn’t alright was hard for him?

R: I agree with Kassi on this one. It’s always pretty damn hard to reveal your “weakness” to people who are close to you. At least that’s how I feel. So I do believe that it was hard for Trey to tell Micki about it. Not an easy one for sure. This one scene between August and Trey still makes me feel a bit unwell. I don’t like seeing him like that. And about the army part: This one is even more difficult. All these memories – mostly bad ones – are tough to handle for everyone. Doesn’t matter how tough you are or pretend to be. It’s not easy at all. Like Kassi already said, PTSD is most likely possible. Who knows what he went through back in the days. To be honest, I don’t even want to know.

K: Honestly when Trey told Micki that he was fine, I immediately felt like he was lying – and he was. His reaction to the glass shattering made me think that he might actually suffer from PTSD. Since we never actually saw how he hurt his wrist, I was thinking that he might have hurt it at the end of his service and that this injury could be the reason why he had to leave the army. But maybe I’m just overreaching here.

In regards to Micki, I feel like admitting to someone close to you that you’re not okay is one of the hardest things for a human being to do. But I also think that him seeing how much he means to Micki, reminded him of the fact that he can always be honest with her – even when he’s not feeling like himself.

What do you think Clint is up to now that Stella confronted him? Should we be worried? Do you think Stella should continue running after Trevor?

K: Personally I think that something big is going to happen – especially now that Clint knows what Stella looks like. I think it was really immature of her to repeatedly seek out a known criminal – who she knows is really dangerous – just to talk to him about a boy who she just met and who has been ghosting her for weeks. I’m also pretty sure that Clint’s men have seen her licence plate before she drove off which makes it that much easier for them to track Stella and Trevor. I also think that Rike is right and that Clint does have a lot of power even behind bars. I mean he himself told Stella that he will know if she tells her dad about the meeting with him and that alone should show us how much power he still has – even in jail. So to sum it up, I really think Stella should stop putting herself and her family in danger for a boy she barely even knows.

R: He might be behind bars, but this doesn’t change the fact that he can cause some damage for sure. I mean, look what happened with Trevor. That’s not a coincidence. Never. I’m sure he used Stella to get to Trevor and hell knows what he’s up to next. In my opinion Trevor isn’t worth running after. Stella should just leave him alone, but I guess this won’t happen. Same with finally telling Walker about everything. This won’t end well. I can already see that. There’s probably a big bomb going to explode at some point.

Do you think Trevor is being sincere or do you think he’s manipulating Stella?

K: Honestly I do not trust him one bit. I feel like he’s actually manipulating Stella and that maybe even the fight scene was staged. I could be totally wrong but the way Trevor kept hinting at the fact that his mother’s death was Cordell’s fault and how they “didn’t know what actually happened” irked me the wrong way. And to be honest it would make sense – the only thing Trevor ever wanted was his father’s love and approval and maybe he thinks this is the only way for him to receive that.

R: I already said this 100 times and you’re probably already tired of it, but I really don’t trust this guy at all. Not a single tiny bit. No. Poor Stella. I do hope that one day she’ll understand that Trevor clearly isn’t the right one for her. He only wants what’s best for him, no matter what. Even the fact that he’s good looking doesn’t change my opinion. Never.

Cordell as a fanboy? Something you would like to see more often?

R: Absolutely! That’s a big yes!! It was pretty fun watching Walker freak out and Micki being completely done with it. Like I already said, it made me chuckle quite a lot. Maybe my little fangirl heart could relate at some point.

K: 100% yes! Him acting like a total fanboy is what made this episode so amazing. He was so adorable in all of his scenes – and honestly who wouldn’t have reacted the same way if they finally got to meet someone they’ve been a fan for for years. Kudos to Jared for adding all of the hilarious facial expressions – like i said, those were my favorite parts of the episode..

Geri (Odette Annable) ignores Walker and now Hoyt (Matt Barr) is coming back. She can’t just leave Walker like that. Things are going to change between the two of them. Drama incoming?

K: I think there’s no way around it. Hoyt has been Cordell’s best friend since they were kids and to be quite frankly him kissing Geri was a betrayal to that friendship – no matter the circumstances. Furthermore we’ve also seen that Geri was avoiding Cordell’s phone calls after the kiss so I think that she is feeling pretty guilty too and doesn’t know what to do. I just hope that both of them actually come clean and that Hoyt learns the news from them and not from another person.

R: Definitely drama incoming. Kassi you are damn right, hopefully Hoyt will get to hear it from Walker and Micki. I don’t want another (even worse) drama once he finds out about it from someone else. This really wouldn’t be it. I mean, they’re grown up people. People can make mistakes. Even if they are still in love with each other, they should figure it out somehow. Overall I don’t think Cordell is quite ready for another relationship yet, but I could be wrong. Who knows. Maybe one day he’ll find this one woman.

Your final score:

R: It’s a 7.5 for me this time.

K: 8.5/10
