Vin Diesel Announces New Fast & Furious 7 Release Date

Vin Diesel took to his Facebook page Sunday night to post a photo of himself and Paul Walker and tell fans that their Fast & Furious 7 will be released next April 10.

The movie’s opening, originally scheduled for July 11, 2015, according to industry reports, had been placed on hold after the Nov. 30 fatal car crash involving Walker, 40, who was a passenger in a Porsche being driven by his friend, Roger Rodas, 38.

“He’d want you to know first,” Diesel said about letting fans know the movie’s release date.

As for the Facebook photo, Diesel said it was “[t]he last scene we filmed together … There was a unique sense of completion, of pride we shared … the magic captured … and, in just how far we’ve come.”

According to the Hollywood Reporter, after Walker’s death changes were made to the movie’s script, to retire him from the series using scenes that he had already filmed.

The trade paper also said he had been paid between $9 million and $13 million upfront for playing ex-cop Brian O’Conner in this latest installment of the car-action franchise.
