What is Hardcore Tabletop?
Hardcore Tabletop is an unscripted competition show that takes nostalgic board games and brings the gameplay to a whole new level. In Season 1, host and gaming personality Geoff Ramsey attempted the ultimate bid to turn his friends against one another; gathering them to play the most intense, high-stakes Monopoly game of their lives. They played with real money and a “real” jail, and the last person standing took home the winnings. This season, Geoff opens up the game to a new group of friends, plus one who is just crazy enough to play again. The new challengers will convene in a match-of-matches to claim the title of Hardcore champion. With a pot of cold hard cash on the line ($20,580), friendships may be destroyed.
The cast of players this season include last year’s winner Alfredo Diaz of Achievement Hunter, Kinda Funny’s Greg Miller, Funhaus’ Bruce Greene, actor Dante Basco (Hook, Avatar the Last Airbender), and streamers Anthony “Chilled Chaos” and Criken “Chad”. Achievement Hunter’s Geoff Ramsey returns as host and game master and Michael Jones appears as the Bailiff, and Jack Pattillo as the Referee.
Achievement Hunter is Rooster Teeth’s comedy-based gaming channel that helped establish the “let’s play” format of gameplay videos wherein Achievement Hunter members play video games extremely poorly and hilarity ensues.
FN – I’ve already watched the first episode of Hardcore Tabletop: World Series. If, like me, you liked the original series this is definitely worth a watch. You might not feel quite the same attachment to the players, since they aren’t all AH members, but it’s still hilarious.
