Downton Abbey Movie Gets A Go Including The Series Cast
AMAZING news Fandemaniacs! YES it’s finally happening – we will get a Downton Abbey movie! As the producer said on Friday, the movie includes the original cast from the series. Such as Michelle Dockery, Maggie Smith and Hugh Bonneville. Production already starts THIS summer!
What we know so far!
Julian Fellowes, who created the hit show, has written the screenplay and will produce the movie. Brian Percival (The Book Thief), who directed the series, will also direct the film.
The movie will be a Carnival Films production, with Focus Features and Universal Pictures International distributing.
Gareth Neame, Carnival’s executive chairman, will also produce. He said:
When the television series drew to a close it was our dream to bring the millions of global fans a movie and now, after getting many stars aligned, we are shortly to go into production. Julian’s script charms, thrills and entertains and in Brian Percival’s hands we aim to deliver everything that one would hope for as ‘Downton’ comes to the big screen.

The show became a global hit over it’s 6 Seasons and aired on ITV in the U.K. In the U.S. it was distributed by NBCUniversal.
The show followed the lives of the Crawley family and their servants who worked for them at the turn of the 20th century.

Downton Abbey won 3 Golden Globe Awards, 15 Primetime Emmy Awards and a Special BAFTA award. The hit show got 69 Emmy nominations, which makes it the most nominated non-U.S. television show in the history.
