The Mandalorian Season 2 Episode 3 “The Heiress” Review

The Mandalorian Season 2 Episode 3 “The Heiress” Synopsis

This episode was, once again, written by Jon Favreau and directed by Bryce Dallas Howard. Bryce also directed “Sanctuary” from Season 1. It begins with them arriving at Trask, where the Frog Lady (Misty Rosas) reunites with her husband. Meanwhile, The Mandalorian (Pedro Pascal) follows a clue he had on other Mandalorians and goes on a fishing ship. You will see what’s going to happen there. All I am going to say is, that there are three other “Mandalorians” appearing in this scene. Their leader is Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff). She is asking the Mandalorian for help because of an upcoming mission. I do not wish to give away too much at this point, but there will be a lot of action and a lot of shooting. See it for yourself. In the end Bo-Katan offers the Mandalorian a place in her ranks, but he refuses. Nevertheless, she instructs him to meet the Jedi Ahsoka Tano in the city of Calodan on the forest planet of Corvus. Soon after, the Mandalorian and the child depart from Trask to continue their journey.

Plot, Acting and Characters

Let’s be honest with each other. The Frog Lady reuniting with her husband was quite emotional, right? They are finally back together – with some less amount of eggs. If you know, you know. In this episode they introduced several characters from other parts of the Star Wars Saga, including two from The Clone Wars. You might recognize them. Maybe there will be more to come in the future. Who knows? All of them made quite a good team this episode. There is obviously some chemistry.

Talking bout Season 2: This is the first episode that gets back to the main storyline, which is Mando finding his kind of people on Trask. In addition, he also learns some uncomfortable truths about himself and his origins. If you want to know more about this, you better watch this episode.

Side-note: Apparently there has been some fan backlash on Twitter over Baby Yoda’s behavior last week. Let me tell you this. Baby Yoda is a typical toddler. What do you expect him to do? He is discovering everything, putting everything he touches in his mouth. He was never trying to kill off Frog Lady’s line. This wasn’t his intention at all. People shouldn’t act like he is a grown man. He clearly isn’t. Even though I do think there might be some kind of connection about this topic and a scene in this episode. Baby Yoda is always enjoying some tasty treats and this time he becomes a little treat himself.

Final review

As I already mentioned, this is the first time in Season 2, where they are getting back to the main storyline. I do like that and I am excited to see what it will lead to in the end. At least he got to know some of his brethers in this episode.

In my opinion there was a good amount of action this time and it’s not just Mando and Baby Yoda fighting against whatever creature it will be. Even though this might be one of the shortest episode we got so far, I think they included everything they had to. One action-packed episode for sure.

And one last thing: Mando needs a new ship, right?

Spoiler Alert: Never trust anyone with a squid for a head.
