Supernatural Season 9 First Look: Sam and Dean “Prepare For the Fall” in New Poster—See the Pic!

The boys are back!
Supernatural returns for its ninth season on Tuesday, Oct. 8, and fans of the CW hit series better start preparing for the fall now. The fall of the angels, that is! We’ve got your first look at the key art for the new season, which features a brooding Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles), looking handsome as ever (obviously), as well as fallen angel Castiel (Misha Collins) and baddie Crowley (Mark Sheppard). The tagline? “Prepare for the fall.”
Of course, this is referring to the season-eight finale’s epic final scene, which saw all of the angels falling from heaven. (Yep, they’re featured in the background of the poster, too!)
In the first promo for the ninth season, it’s revealed that big bad Abaddon is intent on getting all the angels with “clipped wings” to bow to her. One of those angels will be played by Dollhouse and Battlestar Galactica star Tahmoh Penikett, who will take on the role of fallen angel Ezekiel, a dignified warrior who was injured in the fall.
“We’re going to learn pretty quickly that a world full of fallen angels is pretty much a free-for-all. We’re going to see it’s not one unified body,” executive producer Jeremy Carver teased at Comic-Con in July. “We’ve got lots of angels out there with lots of different agendas. Many are feelings lost and vengeful. A world of fallen angels is a dirty, bloody, scary and, in some ways, a very human world.”
So what can fans expect from a human Castiel? It’s going to be interesting,” Jensen Ackles told us of Dean’s reaction to human Castiel. “Castiel has been such a valuable tool to Dean over the past few years and I don’t know if he’s going to have him come clean his room; I don’t know what’s going to happen!”
Supernatural returns Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 9 p.m. on The CW.
