Superman and Lois – A Brief Reminiscence In-Between Cataclysmic Events Roundtable Review

PurpleBrina, Clare and Rike are back to talk Superman and Lois – A Brief Reminiscence In-Between Cataclysmic Events after a lengthy delay caused by the show going on hiatus and some real life stuff we couldn’t avoid. Let’s dive in!

A Brief Reminiscence In-Between Cataclysmic Events Synopsis

Clark (Tyler Hoechlin) makes a startling discovery about Morgan Edge (Adam Rayner).

Overall Thoughts?

R: A great flashback episode where they showed us how Lois (Elizabeth Tulloch) and Clark met each other and immediately fell in love. However, we also got to see a bit more of Morgan Edge. An interesting character even though he’s on the wrong side.

PB: I kinda like getting to see how Lois and Clark fall in love and all the cool stuff in between. And getting to see them become parents. It was really cute.

C: I agree with you B, it was really nice getting more of Clark’s origin story and his relationship with Lois. While I was glad the show didn’t start “from scratch” with all that, it’s still nice to see it peppered through the story to help connect with these characters.

Do you think the town is justified in their hate for Lana (Emmanuelle Chriqui) and her husband?

PB: I honestly think they are in the wrong for being so upset with them. How were they supposed to know that he was an evil alien? Plus, they were willing to go and do whatever he asked because of all his money. So the blame is really on them.

C: No, I think they are mistaken. They need to be aiming it at Morgan Edge and his dastardly scheme to turn everyone into a Kryptonian! It’s a small town though, and Lana and Kyle (Erik Valdez) are prominent members of the community and seemed to be leading everyone towards Edge, so it’s kinda understandable, even if it’s wrong.

R: Definitely not. But they somehow prefer to hate Lana and her husband instead of the real bad guy Morgan Edge. Guess he really did a great job in turning their heads and still support him in some kind of way.

Do you think Morgan/Tal Rho will be able to turn Superman evil?

C: I really hope not. I hope that Clark’s life on Earth, the goodness we have just seen that infuses who he is, will overcome what Edge is trying to do to him. Eventually. I have a feeling we are going to get the same events that happened on John Henry Irons’ (Wole Parks) version of Earth play out, right up until Lois is on the rooftop…then Clark will break Edge’s hold.

R: I truly don’t want this to happen but Superman would do literally everything to protect his family. So, I’m not quite sure if he’ll be able to withstand the attack from Morgan Edge if something bad happens. Fingers crossed that they’ll be able to figure it out somehow.

PB: I would think the CW wouldn’t do this so soon in the first season with still some episodes to go. Unless this is the cliff hanger trick to keep us on the edge until it comes back on in a few weeks.

How do you feel about Morgan’s backstory versus Superman’s backstory?

PB: It’s almost like Morgan was brought up to be evil and hate Superman. Like I feel he could have been a good kid/teenager had he had a different upbringing without all the negative vibes. I almost felt sorry for him but then again he had kidnapped Superman and wants to make him evil. So yeah, he sucks lol

C: I like it. It’s that age old question of “what if Clark hadn’t been raised to be good by the Kents” answered. It does run the risk of being a pretty cardboard cutout villain though if they aren’t careful.

R: Kinda liked seeing those two completely different storylines from the good guy and the bad guy. Like Clare already mentioned, it’s all about education. Imagine Morgan Edge being the good guy. Things wouldn’t be the same. Maybe he would have ended up with Lois instead. But Superman is a good example that you can change for the better. So maybe there’s still hope for Edge (even though I prefer him as the bad guy not gonna lie).
